About this boat

I have just completed this model - just waiting for the new prop to arrive along with a flag for the main mast. it was a Precedent all wood kit and not too Impressed with the materials but you only get what you pay for. Overall I think it has turned out not too bad and it seemed to get better the more I worked on it (or is that psychlogical)Tested in the Marine testing laboratory (white bath) and floats OK with no sign of a leak (fingers crossed).
Boat finally completely finished 30/12/12 and new 2-blade prop fitted and great turn of speed.
Now got the ESC working properly and she has taken on another dimension in terms of speed - no more taking turns at high speed !!
She is planing on just the stern and very skittish at heavy turn of the rudder so gently does it. (Motor: Graupner 700 Speed Turbo) (ESC: Tornado 50 Amp) (9/10)

Thanks for getting back to me, Chuck—I appreciate it. Definitely keep us posted, I’m in for one.

By the way, have you had a chance to check out my building log? And what do you think about that small red-and-white chair?

Quick question: did you have a specific spot where you installed the on/off switch? I’m trying to place mine somewhere accessible without needing to lift the sundeck.

I also tried replying to your email, but when I sent my message, it came back in red like it was blocked or prohibited. So I wasn’t sure if your email is still active.

I’d really like to have a way to communicate with you directly — whatever method you prefer.

    Hi Chuck —
I hope you’re doing well! It’s Julian from the Model Boat Forum (Ships of Scale). I’ve been progressing on my Juanita build — and I actually placed your model in the back of the burners in my build log a while back!

I’m currently commissioned to build a fireboat for Model Expo, but once that’s wrapped up I’m excited to get back to the Juanita. You left the forum right when the barge was about to come out, and as I mentioned back then, I definitely want one.

I’m interested in purchasing the ABD barge set. I’ve seen eBay listings up around $280, but I recall that you sometimes offer better pricing to forum members. Would you be willing to sell the ABD set for less than $280, perhaps at your member price?

Thanks in advance — I’d really appreciate it, and I look forward to hearing from you.
    Best regards,
    Julian

    Hey Chuck, how are you?
I messed up again with the decals
I apply the small “Juanita decal in the stern and when it came to do the pilot house sides, I noticed that I was left with the larger names which are the ones supposed to go in the stern.
So if you could please, send me a file with the small Juanita decal that goes in the side of the pilot house.
I’m terrible upset by this stupid mistake on my side.
I will write about where to place the decals on my building blog, I don’t want someone else to do the same mistake.
I should have asked you before which one goes where.

What kind of battery does your model have?.
    I was thinking of a 12v.
Where did you place the on-off electronics switch?
I was thinking to convert the room by the front stairs in the switch room, that way I don’t have to open the model to get access to it.
Did you have to add any ballast weight to the model?
Thank you for taking the time to answer all of my silly questions.

“ Lifering should come with hanger.”
Is this hanger a 3D printed part?
Can’t find anything within the kit unless the little brass arrow like piece that is in the pictures I sent you, needs to be bent to accommodate the life ring.
    Is that it?
Sorry Chuck but some written instructions is what modelers like me needs to figure out how to build this model. The pictures is just not enough when it comes to the fine details.
I’m figuring things out as I go and cross check your pictures, but is not easy at least for me.
The parts are very well designed and they all interlocked perfectly but somethings are just a bit mind boggling for me.
For example, your instructions talks about how to attach the motor to the motor mount but you said to be careful not to tight the screws too much because it could touch the coil of the motor and burn it.
Aren’t this screws the proper length?
Bear with me, just a few more questions:
The receiver antenna should be pull out or it could remain under the deck?
What is the single led bulb included with the kit for?
When will you be creating the barge kit to go along with Juanita?
Thanks a million for all the help.

    Hello Chuck,
Next week we have another meeting in our clubhouse.
    About your offer:
I have communicated this to you by mail and by WA. Presumably everyone is putting the finishing touches to their model boats and looking forward to the christening of the successful end products. . .
I will kick this off again and let you know immediately. Lately, many are a bit reluctant to buy, no idea why.
To be honest, I wouldn't have all my cellar corpses to renew (Bugsier / Bussard / Optimist / Huntsman and Trout from Graupner) I would have bought one of these kits immediately.
But let's wait and see!!! When it's too late, my club colleagues will unfortunately be out of luck!
    Thank you for your understanding.

    Hi. Chuck
    Yes, I got it.
My wife is hospitalized and I just stepped out for a second to go home and bring in the box in from the door step.
I took a quick look at it and all looks good, but one thing I notice is that the small 3D printed parts might not fly with ME.
But….they do have a casting department and to my opinion they will make a mold to cast those parts.
    This is just me talking.
I have jet to bring the model to them for discussion.
They do trust my opinion a lot and I will do as much as possible to pitch for the making your model.
