About this boat
Boat finally completely finished 30/12/12 and new 2-blade prop fitted and great turn of speed.
Now got the ESC working properly and she has taken on another dimension in terms of speed - no more taking turns at high speed !!
She is planing on just the stern and very skittish at heavy turn of the rudder so gently does it. (Motor: Graupner 700 Speed Turbo) (ESC: Tornado 50 Amp) (9/10)

How are things going?
Cheers, Doug😎
By the way, have you had a chance to check out my building log? And what do you think about that small red-and-white chair?
Quick question: did you have a specific spot where you installed the on/off switch? I’m trying to place mine somewhere accessible without needing to lift the sundeck.
😎
I also tried replying to your email, but when I sent my message, it came back in red like it was blocked or prohibited. So I wasn’t sure if your email is still active.
I’d really like to have a way to communicate with you directly — whatever method you prefer.
😎
I hope you’re doing well! It’s Julian from the Model Boat Forum (Ships of Scale). I’ve been progressing on my Juanita build — and I actually placed your model in the back of the burners in my build log a while back!
I’m currently commissioned to build a fireboat for Model Expo, but once that’s wrapped up I’m excited to get back to the Juanita. You left the forum right when the barge was about to come out, and as I mentioned back then, I definitely want one.
I’m interested in purchasing the ABD barge set. I’ve seen eBay listings up around $280, but I recall that you sometimes offer better pricing to forum members. Would you be willing to sell the ABD set for less than $280, perhaps at your member price?
Thanks in advance — I’d really appreciate it, and I look forward to hearing from you.
Best regards,
Julian
😎
Are you still alive? Haven't heard or read from you in a long time. Are you well? Get in touch again sometime.
Your Michel-C.
Haven't heard anything for a long time?
Michel-C.
Are you OK?
Something most have happened to you that we don’t hear from you and the barge anymore.
I really hope that you are well.
😎
I haven’t seeing any more posts from you about the barge kits.
Is everything moving along?
☹️
Cheers,
Nick.
You sure stand behind your models.
It’s so great to deal with model makers that take care of their customer needs.
A million thanks.
😎
I imagen extra busy with the new barge coming out.
Chuck I need to purchase from you the entire set of decals.
I just commit another mistake.
I stock the Shearer &Son round decal too dam low.
Look at this.
And it should be higher like this.
Just tell me how much I owe you for an entire set.
See if you like my custom gutters.
😎
I messed up again with the decals
I apply the small “Juanita decal in the stern and when it came to do the pilot house sides, I noticed that I was left with the larger names which are the ones supposed to go in the stern.
So if you could please, send me a file with the small Juanita decal that goes in the side of the pilot house.
I’m terrible upset by this stupid mistake on my side.
I will write about where to place the decals on my building blog, I don’t want someone else to do the same mistake.
I should have asked you before which one goes where.
😠
Let’s do this.
😎
As you can notice, I’m not familiar with the shapes and terminology of the river barges since I’m a rookie at this.
Looking to your add I believe I should purchase the large barge kit but….with a flat end or push end.
Again my address is 3204 SW 142 place Miami Florida 33175 and my cell number is 305 934 1127.
Thank You
Julian
😎
Like I said, I’m buying the complete large barge with both rake and everything else that comes with it.
Let me know what the price will be shipped to my Miami address.
Thank You
So, …. again,
What’s the next project if there is one or more.
😎
😎
I changed my ming, I’m going go for the full length with all the bells and whistles.
Tell me how much Kia that shipped to my address.
Thanks
😍
Let men know how much will that cost me please.
😎
So let me know how much will that be.
😎
I think that will do.
😎
Something stupid happened to me.
I cut out the decals for the radar and life ring.
Proceeded to do the radar and sadly and mistakenly dumped in the trash the life ring decal.
How can we about purchasing another set of decals so I could finish the life ring?
Please help.
Thanks
😎
😎
So…..almost ready to bring out the barge?
😎
I’m searching throughout the instructions and can’t find where D8 (4pcs) goes.
☹️
I meant to tell you that out designer briefly explained some of the process of how to use a 3D printer.
With your recommendations I will start looking for something that I could use.
Today I’m building and painting the pilot house stairs and grill F1-2.
Thanks.
😎
For sure I will start investigating and purchasing one.
I work for Creative Displays down here in Miami.
https://www.creativedisplay.com/
My job in this company is to process, rip, print, laminate and mount graphics for every mayor business. Now we are in the process of supplying decorations for over 9 European yacht builders in the very famous Palm Beach Boat Show.
I talk to our designer about the process of creating 3D pieces and he briefly explain some of the process.
Since I’m always building models, a 3D printer will come very handy.
😎
I think is a point to attach a cable from the stern towing lights. Correct?
Take a look at this other picture.
😎
It has two yellow and one white in the top. That's how I will do them.
😎
I wish I had a 3 D printer. It’s not a matter of money but of knowledge.
Don’t know how to use them.
But I’m giving a lot of thought about purchasing one.
Don’t know which one, but I will have to do my research and ask around to see what’s best for me.
But it looks like a very accurate jig to assemble the wheels.
😎
That’s what I’ll do when I finish painting the hull and structure.
I started yesterday with the white upper part, today I will work my way down to the hull.
So far it’s looking marvelous thanks to all of the advise you have provided.
What kind of battery does your model have?.
I was thinking of a 12v.
Where did you place the on-off electronics switch?
I was thinking to convert the room by the front stairs in the switch room, that way I don’t have to open the model to get access to it.
Did you have to add any ballast weight to the model?
Thank you for taking the time to answer all of my silly questions.
I owe you big.
When I show your model at ME I’m pretty certain that they will fall in love with it.
I will keep you posted it.
😎
Don't forget to send me the wheels assembling video or instructions, either one.
About the rear towing lights...your instructions calls for only one light, but according to the real pictures I have seen a total of four.
One in the very top and three more coming up starting with the edge of the rear F1-3.
Do you know the color of these lights?
I have done a little research about them and its just crazy the quantity and color combinations that they have.
Thanks
😎
I have to enter the makers name on my profile for the forum SOS, for the Juanita kit.
What name should I say that Juanita is from?
😎
Your answers gives me enthusiasm to continue with the build.
Sometimes I just get a bit frustrated not knowing how to move forward.
One question:
Today I will be assembling the paddle wheels.
On these wheels, only one of the four get to be fixed in the shaft, correct?
Enlighten me how you putt them all together.
Thank You a million times.
😎
Please help out here again.
I guess that these big angles goes under the weather deck by the front of the structure where the stairs are, correct?
But I just can’t figure out about the two frame like pieces, the small bracket with the hole and the tiny angel piece.
On another others note, I passed down the news on SOS about the new coming barge kit. There is a member in this forum that also bought your Juanita and he is following me for whenever he starts his own.
I’m very grateful for all of the help you have given me.
I truly appreciate it.
😎
I was looking around the pdf instructions but couldn’t find where this rings goes.
I should think that is part of the life ring, correct?
😎
Great news about the barge kits. Whenever they are ready just send me an email with the cost including shipping like you did with the kit. You have my address.
I need your help again.
You told me that small bulb that is included with the kit, is for the search light.
Can you give me some orientation about how to add the different lights to Juanita.
Maybe a small sketch for the connections.
What battery do you recommend to power the model.
Maybe also a sketch of how I should wire the entire model.
I have always being a static model builder and have very little experience with the r/c systems.
Thanks
😎
Wow that might be the smallest part of the entire kit.
Today I’m taping off the wheels to be painted.
Lots of patience to do this.
By the way, you can use my pictures for anything you need, or if you want me to photograph something in particular, just let me know.
I talked to Model Expo production manager and he is following up in SOS and as soon as my model is finished , I will present it to him…..he wants to see it.
Maybe you can work out some kind of deal and have them distribute the model also.
😎
😎
Very good reference to post in my blog.
Thanks.
😎
😎
I’m building the monkey rudders assembly and I came to a stop because I can’t really figure out how to use these parts.
Could you guide me please?
I like to make a thorough review in my building log to also help other modelers.
😎
I’m going to create an extension to one of them.
😎
I guess is right on top and aligned to the H3-6 hole.
Correct?
This is where I opened a small pilot hole, but will wait for your answer.
😎
I hope you like my blog on SOS.
I have another question that I need you to explain to me.
Believe me, I only ask you whenever I can’t figure things out.
On the monkey rudders. The bottom H3-6 is exactly 154mm wide, how it get attached to the 154mm opening?
Your instructions does not show how.
I’m getting all of your inputs and posting it for other modelers to use.
Thanks
😎
Here is the link to my Juanita building log:
https://shipsofscale.com/sosforums/threads/the-juanita-sternwheeler-1-24.16419/
It’s late now, but tomorrow I will continue it.
😎
It gives me assurance to move forward with the build.
Remember….you can count with me as a customer whenever you bring out the barge.
😎
Is this hanger a 3D printed part?
Can’t find anything within the kit unless the little brass arrow like piece that is in the pictures I sent you, needs to be bent to accommodate the life ring.
Is that it?
Sorry Chuck but some written instructions is what modelers like me needs to figure out how to build this model. The pictures is just not enough when it comes to the fine details.
I’m figuring things out as I go and cross check your pictures, but is not easy at least for me.
The parts are very well designed and they all interlocked perfectly but somethings are just a bit mind boggling for me.
For example, your instructions talks about how to attach the motor to the motor mount but you said to be careful not to tight the screws too much because it could touch the coil of the motor and burn it.
Aren’t this screws the proper length?
Bear with me, just a few more questions:
The receiver antenna should be pull out or it could remain under the deck?
What is the single led bulb included with the kit for?
When will you be creating the barge kit to go along with Juanita?
Thanks a million for all the help.
😎
What glue did you use to glue the plexiglass to the windows.
I know if I uses cyano. it will fog the plexiglass.
🙄
What is this thing inside the searchlight?
Is it the filament?
Should I live it like that and paint over it?
😎
Does the life preserver ring has a hanger like I see on your instructions?.
Also, could you tell me how to use this parts that I have included in the picture.
🙄
Well I followed your instructions for the windows and they came out perfectly.
I finished and installed all the pilot house items, as you can see, I added a black floor mat on front of the wheel, I think it gives a nice touch.
😎
I’ll fix it, but I’m not planing to show the inside.
😎
That’s why I sent the pictures to you.
I knew I might be doing something wrong.
Im taking pictures of every step of the way and by tomorrow I’ll post my log and sent you the link.
This is how far I’m in the build.
I didn’t glue the superstructure to the hull jet because I want to do as much to the inside of the hull as I can.
😎
😎
😎
Correct me here if I’m wrong.
I think that my kit is missing two long bottom and top window tracks.
Here is a picture of what I have.
My kit also missed one of the two F3-4, but I made one myself.
I hope that as I move alone the build nothing else is missing.
Thanks
😎
Could you send me a few pictures of how you did your electronics set up.
It will be be greatly appreciated.
I already started my build and will log it soon.
Thank You
Julian
😎
Next week we have another meeting in our clubhouse.
About your offer:
I have communicated this to you by mail and by WA. Presumably everyone is putting the finishing touches to their model boats and looking forward to the christening of the successful end products. . .
I will kick this off again and let you know immediately. Lately, many are a bit reluctant to buy, no idea why.
To be honest, I wouldn't have all my cellar corpses to renew (Bugsier / Bussard / Optimist / Huntsman and Trout from Graupner) I would have bought one of these kits immediately.
But let's wait and see!!! When it's too late, my club colleagues will unfortunately be out of luck!
Thank you for your understanding.
Your Michel-C.
PS:Your model kits leave everyone else in the shade!!!👍👍👍
😎
Since I also belong to the “Ships of Scale” forum here in the States and I have done many kit reviews there, I would like to do a review of your model.
I also like to introduce you as a Model Ship Designer and Producer and Im pretty sure that will open up the opportunity for you to sell more.
Tell me a few things about your studies and abilities to go along the introduction.
Let me know what do you think about this idea.
😎
Yes, I got it.
My wife is hospitalized and I just stepped out for a second to go home and bring in the box in from the door step.
I took a quick look at it and all looks good, but one thing I notice is that the small 3D printed parts might not fly with ME.
But….they do have a casting department and to my opinion they will make a mold to cast those parts.
This is just me talking.
I have jet to bring the model to them for discussion.
They do trust my opinion a lot and I will do as much as possible to pitch for the making your model.
Again, I think Juanita it has potential with ME.
😎
I got it!
😎
I meant written manual.
😎
I didn’t say this before because I respect you as the owner and creator of this wonderful model.
I have a very good friendship with Model Expo owner and production manager and from what I have seeing in your pictures, your model has a lot of potential for mass production with us.
I will take your model to the store and talk to the Production Manager as soon as I get my hands on it.
Only if you want.
You have the last word.

Greetings from Switzerland
Michel-C.
Thank You for the response.

Did I read correctly that you will later be selling this boat as a kit?
