About this boat

My tug Alte Liebe is from a Caldercraft Kit. She weighs about 30 lbs including ballast. She sails really well at a realsitic scale speed. I keep adding bits to her (adding to her beauty - in my eyes !!) as and when I feel the need to or when I am bored of working on my other boats. (Motor: MFA) (ESC: Hitec SP-610 RF) (9/10)

    Hi Phil,

Why's it feel like a kids game? If you can elaborate on what's giving this feel.

    Thanks,
    Stephen

Phil is this a kit? If so where is it available.

It resembles the Cygnus GM21 a fisherman in Shetland owns though it is setup differently from his.

    Hi Phil

I generally don’t have multiple projects underway with various boats at different stages of building.

I have been thinking of doing a smaller version of the Emma and Emily type sailboats. One that requires very little water in a city pool. Something in the 18-20” range.

Gary Webb has been doing some work on a flat bottom design during his recovery from the heart attack two years ago. It’s why there were no new videos or news from him for a while. He did produce a couple new videos and is back living aboard Sparkle his sailboat.

If I don’t hear from him after sending an email, I will email his son.

Have you built any of his designs?

    Ron
Here is Gary’s most current design of a flat bottomed model, it’s the subject of a new video on YouTube.

The last two are Gary after his stroke and sailing older models. His beard had grown out in these photos.

    Hi Phil

I see nothing in your harbour showing us your building or interest even if they are purchased from someone else who built it.

I have two models built by others though, I have added to the model with more detail.

    Hi,
I understand from a 1970's Huntsman 31 model owner that President made his kit.
The one he owns is what I call a MK2 because the vent cowls on the combings are rectangular in shape compared with the MK1 Shell type vent.
Just wondering if the one in your shed is the MK2 type and you could possible let me have some details please? Sales brochure pictures would probably be suffient!
Thank you, look forward to hearing from you. Ian.🤞

Your other account 'philipH' has now been deleted.

All posts that were against that account have been transferred to your current account 'PhilH'.

I believe the philipH was likely created because your google login wasn't using the same email address as your PhilH account, however, I've overridden this and your google login will now bring you to PhilH too 👍

Hi PhilH, I have lived in Dartford now for 30yrs this coming November. I had a boat on the Norfolk Broads for 25 yrs. My first boat I used on the Broads was a Shetland 535. I trailered that up and down to Norfolk for 5 years then the second boat that I had up there was the one I posted the picture of. She was 21ft Ancas Sea Queen, she was a 1962 made boat and was built to be used on the Norwegian Fjords. So she should have been seaworthy. The engine was an inboard Volvo Penta 1600cc. They marinized engines that were made for the Volvo PV444/544 and the early Amazon cars. That boat was too big for me to trailer about. She was named
Sea Queen 2, My brother owned Sea Queen for about 7 years on the Broads. We both rented moorings from Herbert Woods Boat Yard. I was with them for 25yrs. I do and don't miss the boat. I miss is because we used to go there on a regular basis when I was working, I drove London Transport Double Decker Buses. I used to get a long week end of every 4 weeks so we used to go up to here and I done lots of fishing there. When I retired in 2015 we went even more, but I got a bit as my son's were telling me a bit toddery on my feet. I went up there for a trip on my own once and I slipped over twice on the waterside decking when it was wet. I then decided it was time to sell the boat as I was also having a job getting on and off of her. But during the first lock down there had been 2 big storms and up in Norfolk in the boat yard it was so open to the elements my boat took a bit of a battering. The rear end had gone partly under water, I had to pay the boatyard to pump her out then in the second storm it happened again. So That was then I went up there on my own to clean her up after the sinking. Water had got into the engine as well, I was able to drain all of that with some cleaning I was able to get her running again. So when I got home I put her on Facebook for sale. I did post a picture of her when she was partly underwater. But I was able to sell her without any trouble. She was sold within 2 weeks. So it's a yes I miss her because I miss the fishing trips and using her, and no I don't miss her because I was so hard getting on and off of her as the boatyard was in a tidal area and it gave big trouble do it. Also the boatyard was about 10 miles up River from
Gt Yarmouth. Herbert Woods Boat Yard built boats for the Ministry during the wartime. So sorry for going on, back to your question, I sadly I have never lived up there, and Yes I am in Dartford well just outside of it Darenth actually. I am just about 2 miles from both Dartford town and also the famous dreaded Dartford Crossing. Once again sorry for the ear bashing. So also I'm a toddery 73 yr old so my sons say but more than able to get around.

    Hi PhilH
I'm very happy that you solved the problem.
If the LEDs have a direct three volt voltage, you can power them with 3 volts without a resistor but you have to put them in parallel.
If you want to put three of them in series you have to supply them with about 9 volts.
If you have a voltage regulator that manages them you have no problems.

    Hi Phil

What power supply do you intend to use to turn on the LEDs? I mean what voltage.

Have you already chosen the LEDs? What LEDs are they?

I have just posted an update on your Twin Motor question.
This is a super ESC for two motors.
    Hope it helps.
