About this boat

HMS Victorious....Circa 1941.
Based on a Fleetscale hull.Scale 1/128.
I started her some 5 years ago and it really has been a long job because of other projects which I prioritised. Thus it has been an on and off project.Still a lot to do in most area’s,so she is a long way off being finished with a lot of errors to rectify and modify.
Front lift goes up and down.
Rear turrets all turn.
Has a water steam smoke effect boiler.
Working bilge pump,plus more.
I also want to get the lifting crane to rotate, any ideas anyone, space is not at a premium?
Started on the Island only recently.
Had a trimming sail just prior to lockdown. She weighs a ton 🤔
This lockdown has boosted work much to the wife’s annoyance 😂😂
Will try to keep on top of this project now.
Regards Bill

So well done. Beatiful work of a gallant ship.
GoBilda servos might serve you for your crane. fully proportional, they are capable of 300 degrees of rotation with a servo expander. Out of the box they give around 200 degrees or more, depending upon your radio.

I was unable to find the picture I thought I had of her in the water so today I put some water in the grand children’s Paddling pool and put her in for a soak and moved some weight around to balance things up a little.
Not the same as on the pond but better than nothing.
Take care and stay safe everyone.

    Gents.
Thank you for the kind comments and thoughts on crane.
I will be investigating the ideas, which are sound.
Such a wealth of knowledge on this site 👍👍.
Sorry Ron I didn’t take any on the trim test as it was all a bit rushed, but I do have one somewhere I will dig out and post.
    Roll on normality.

Lovely build Bill, I have really fancied building a carrier, but size is the problem, have to limit myself to 4 foot and under but it doesn't stop me from drooling at your photo's😋 hope you have many friends to help you launch such a beast😊

    Cheers, Pete

    Very nice Bill👍
1/128! 160cm. Same scale as my Graf Spee, 145cm.
Shame we don't live closer to sail them together.
I'd have to beef up my Flak battery first though😉

    Ref rotating crane:
Can't you use the same mechanism as you used for the gun turrets?
For the guns on my destroyer I just used an old servo with a cog mounted on it.
Smaller cog on the turret shaft to extend the travel arc to +/- 120°.
Motion transfer from X to Y turret by 1to1 pulley.
Use a hollow tube for the pivot axis and you could also fit a small winch motor underneath, drum on a slow geared motor, and run a twirl cord through the tube to raise the jib😊
Operate via Left Stick or pot as Martin says.
    Cheers, Doug 😎

WOW She is quite a size.
On wonder she weighs a ton.
You have done a fantastic job so far.
I look forward to future updates.

As for the lifting crane how about a 360 servo with limit switches fitted and operated using a pot on your Transmitter.
