About this boat

Nice Birthday Present.

With a birthday following my renewed interest in r/c power boats some years ago, my wife bought me this Pursuit as a birthday present, so this boat is now several years old but is still in reasonably good condition.

The boat came with a brushless motor factory fitted but needed an ESC and r/c system and a good (powerful and fast metal geared) steering servo to be fitted.

I ran this boat quite a lot on 4C LiPo batteries (as specified) and it does run very nicely….. reasonably quick (but not too fast) and surprisingly smooth running too.

After every session at the lake, I stripped and greased the flexi-drive, but this was nothing like as easy or fast as working on the Alpha 1000 or the Inception as the alloy rear “out-drive” assembly needed to be partially stripped and reassembled every time to access the drive cable.

Also unlike the Alpha 1000 and Inception, this boat had a glass fibre hull (the other two are moulded plastic) and although stronger and more easily repairable in the event of a crash, its outer surface (gel coat) was more prone to cracking or chipping.

Overall , an excellent boat, not as fast as others in the same size range but very much nicer to drive.

Current prices now make this quite an expensive model, but when this one was bought new it was not over-priced and represented fair value for a well made glass fibre boat with nicely made alloy “out-drive” and rudder assembly.

Spare parts are still available. This is unusual for a boat of this type that is now quite old, but it must have been a successful model as it is still available - but now it has a much more “lively” decoration that makes this one look quite plain.

As my Classic Model Power Boats were either built or restored and able to be used, my Alpha 1000 and Inception models were sold, but I kept this Pursuit, and although it seldom gets a run these days, it is nice to drive and not “silly fast” for use on our club lake.

Bob.
