About this boat
When I first returned to r/c model boating after many years away, I wanted something that I could use while I was building and restoring some of the Classic Model Power Boats that I either had or remember running with back in the 1960’s and 70’s.
Having come from large scale car racing, I thought that a nice quick “flattie” that I could just put in the water and drive would be ideal and when a good deal on an Inception came along, I bought it!
I wish I had kept some of the pictures that I took of the boat, but at least I saved this short vdeo to show the boat running on 2C LiPo batteries.
I also have 3C LiPo batteries to run along with the smaller size prop to suite them, but the boat was far too fast to use on the small Southport lake with this amps of power.
…but as this video shows, it is quite nippy when only running on a two cell (2C) LiPo.i

You will note that no other boats were on the water when this short video was made.
I took it to the lake in the afternoons and evenings when others were not around. If I arrived and found others on the water, I would either wait until they had finished, or I went away and came back again later…..unless I was asked to demonstrate it and no other craft were still on the water.
This did not stop the boat gaining a lot of appreciative attention from passers by in Rotton Row (the road that runs alongside the club lake) as the video does not really show it being nearly as fast as it really was.
It often drew a crowd when its “rooster tail” was seen and its engine note was heard - although not loud - it did have a high revving sound that many found quite exciting to hear.
The only complaints I ever had was when I wanted to go home or when I run out of charged LiPo’s !
Being considerate to other club members (and other lake users) is very important to me, and is something that I have always been acutely aware of since I first started running r/c power boats in the 1960’s.
Being polite costs nothing, but being rude or inconsiderate to others can cause problems that should always be avoided
These were great boats to own and run on larger expanses of water when they could run 6C and smaller props to really perform at their best, but on our small club lake it had to be tamed down and only run with full consideration bring given to any others wishing to use the water .
