About this boat
I like the old 40 Mhtz sets with a flick arm for the 3rd. channel and I use this to flatten the jib after a tack.
I had to fit a bowsprit because of the extra sail, and also move the mast back about half an inch.

I suppose I am attracted to your Bella because the second model boat I ever built was one and I still think she is one of my best models. I thought at the time, she would look good as a gaff cutter and have often thought about getting another kit and building another, changing the rig, but kits have been listed as 'not currently available' for some time now. I did see one, gaff rigged, at a show, Blackpool? a while ago. Perhaps it was yours? Good luck with her, I can well imagine the improved performance.

The conversion is a bit involved the shortened mast is now stepped onto the keel making it even shorter, and moved aft a bit.
The rest is a bit of arithmetic but the c of e of the sails is much lower and there is a 40% increase in area but the pressure on the sails is lower down so it all evens out.
Travels on a reach hands off and spins on a 2 1/2 pence piece!
