Hello may I put in my 2 pennorth? There should be a nice foamy bow wave to show she means business. You can get this by putting spaced verticle strip fenders at the bow that go into the water and disturb the waterflow to give a 'moustache'. So no increase in speed needed. Hope you do not mind this suggestion.
I have a Plaudit a very similar type of tug. The Port of London Authority had 2 tugs like this, (now sold on) the other called Plashet. Note the PLA in the names. Always a pleasure to run the model.
regards
Roy

Almost perfect conditions for a better video today. Bit late in the afternoon, but I can't control the tides. Bit soggy in places, but the truck managed most of it. Enjoying seeing what the truck will handle.

Thank You for the kind words!
That was his first time out with that boat. It was listed locally on Facebook Marketplace (He beat me to it by mere minutes ... sigh). Since that outing, he has taken some weight out of the boat, it sits higher in the water now.

Our pond is part of a city park, a very nice setting! The long skinny one is the one in my videos. It is used by scale boats, and general sailing. The larger one below it is recommended for fast electrics. Gas boats are not allowed.

Brian Clewes brought along a nice example of his scratch built Master Hand retired fishing boat, for a sail. When larger more powerful mechanised boats were introduced this type was abandoned. Many were rescued and turned into pleasure / racing type craft and that is what this model depicts. Not seen for some years but is ageing well. The static pics will be of interest to any modeller considering making a scale sailing ship of this type. I did film some video and will share this later when edited.
enjoy

Nice calm night last night, so thought I'd go down an disturb the peace. Camera battery must have been going flat as the sound/picture sync was miles out, but you'll get the idea, (the sound is ahead of the picture by about 4 seconds) Might try for a better one when it's lighter and the battery is fully charged. YT also distorts a good video in the transfer for some reason (my HD camera anyhow)

Hi Rick, it's actually a tidal estuary (Orewa River) which doesn't look as good when the mud's in😁 (arrow is where I was for perspective). Get some good pics of sunsets from there at times. There's a walk/cycleway round the entire estuary which is pretty nice. Star is my place, so quite handy for boating. I was running the airboat from beside the boat ramp.

Bionic Bill and Ben ready for an outing on Halloween today 😂🤣. Sadly the weather is so awful that they can't get on the lake as they would just be blown to the far side.
(Apologies for the shaky video, trying to operate the Tx while holding the camera)

Sailing and filming at the same time can be a challenge ! . But when local club member Graham sourced some cheap FPV equipment, things became easier to get in frame before hitting "REC" on the Gopro.

Hi Phil, been wanting to do that for a few years, but haven't found a cheap enough set yet. I've struggled with trying to position one boat with a camera, behind or beside the subject etc, while trying to drive 2 boats at once. One thing I was thinking of, was to put the camera on a 360Deg gimbal so you can rotate it and follow something, rather than have to constantly re-position the whole camera boat to keep the subject in frame.

Just calling in to say that I have not finished this little model yet, large due to Christmas and the like. However, I am now back on it and it should not take long now. During the down time on it, I have decided not mount it on a stand but to make a boat trailor for it and have acquired a suitably-sized RangeRover, R/C to launch it into the lake from our slipway. Also, I have decided to use a gearbox, one motor, two screws as space and weight were both getting tight. So it will be fitted with two motors direct drive.

This is s short video of the first trial of the Police Launch. I was very happy with the performance. After 30 minutes of running in fairly rough conditions, I was pleased to note that not even a drip of water entered the hull.
She performed very well but I will wait for a calmer day before deciding on any changes needed to the ballast.
I stopped the run after 30 minutes only because it was very cold. The LiPo battery, 2 cell 2200 mAh, performed faultlessly. Even after being in storage charge for more that 2 years, it still was only reading 3.78 volts per cell after the 30 minutes. My estimate is that it will run for 40 minutes or more before getting close to the lower limit. I was running at full speed for most of the test. My only negative from the test is that Krick have settled for a motor which is at the bottom of the power range. A pity as I am sure that an increase in motor speed would be of benefit to the model.
Peter.😊

Looks real nice Peter👍- monitor works well and radar looks spot on, - nice job👍 You can always go up a bit in motor size if you find cruising not to your liking. It does let you stay out longer though, and enjoy it more.
