this is my new build of a 60inch fire tender,bought plans from a ebay member in canada who resized them to 60 inch very large boat,don't know what size motor or prop to install so if anyone can help please advise me. would a 60 to 70mm propellor be okay on a boat this size? I will post more pics as I progress with the build. this boat is now in the build blog section with more pics of build
Yours will be a jolly nice craft when completed, its large however, and with the proper turn of speed it will use up a lot of water space very quickly. My fireboat is a mere 46" propelled by two Johnson 980's on 12v but it fair gobbles up water space and my local pond at Sheringham is completely useless.

I agree, that's why my 46inch is kept in Tynemouth where ther is a large lake compared to my local club in Warwickshire. Still it gives me the excuse to have multiple models of different sizes and my Derek old mum loves the idea she keeps my boats for me in the NE. Too muh information ????
HI fellow modellers, Another model from the RADMC fleet at the fleetshaven workshop and boat yard in Ponthir.This model was scratch built using a fibre glass hull and plan obtained from a fellow modeller at the Bridgend Show in 2007. The front door and some fittings are made from plastic card and tube, decks are from ply and timber. On board figures are from the pound shop and car boot sales, modified by myself. The on board tank and half truck are RTR models that I have modified their looks to fit into a WWII theme for the craft. This craft has twin drive, 400 motors via 2.5/1 gearboxes. I tend to use both sticks on the TX for drive as this allows me to turn the model on a six pence.The dispatch door works from a rotary pot on the TX and via a rotary sail winch servo in the hull. I have just modified my Planet 5 TX to allow me to change my radio gear in this craft. This model has had meny trips on Cwmbran Boating Lake and at shows the society attend during the year. Still haven't allowed the tank or half track to run off the landing craft up the lake side slipway. one day I might get it on video. Hope you enjoyed the photo's. Regards GreyWolf

Another model from the RADMC fleet at the fleetshaven workshop and boat yard in Ponthir.This model was built from a Caldercraft Kit, This model came into my possession for the price of 20p, a raffle prize at Bryn Bach Model Clubs OPen Day 2010, when it was built is unknown. The item being made for display use and not finished off, no internal electronic fixtures. Did have a prop shaft and prop that had not been fitted correctly. 50% of all the fixtures had to be removed and refitted before they fell off, some didn't stay in place from the show back home. The model was finised off using a photo of the Milford star on the internet. The fish boxes and figures being obtained off DON one of the Society members who had a mould to make them in white metal, only required cleaning up and finishing off. A graupner 6 volt steam unit is fitted in the funnel and to make the boat a little more realistic on the water,a maplin steam sound system has been used to generate the sound of the engine. A simple mod allows the revs to be linked to the engine voltage. The drive motor is a 550 with the lowest revs I had in MJB's this was married up to a 2.5/1 gearbox I also had in stock. The main motor and steam unit are supplied from a 7.2 volt nicad racing pack. This model has had meny fishing trips on Cwmbran Boating Lake and at shows the Society visit. A graupner 6 volt steam unit is fitted in the funnel and to make the boat a little more realistic a maplin steam sound system has been used to generate the sound of the engine. A simple mod allows the revs to be linked to the engine voltage. The steam engine rotates using a stripped down minI servo, fitted under the motor housing on the deck, again linked to the main motor voltage. The two 9.6 volt AA batteries and control gear are mounted under the boats floor, forward locker, a minI servo for steerage is fitted under the rear seat and the receiver is located under the wood pile. Figures are self made from items obtained from the local pound shop. The modal can be seen sailing at Cwmbran Boating Lake or at shows the society visit. Have had this boat 30 years .Started it for my eldest son but never finished. But now with two boys of his own I am determined to give it my best shot.
Completly stripped it, repaired delaminated sections,took out all the gear (motor,radio,servos) and started again.
I will update progress as time goes on but I am determined this will be on the water this year.
my boat is powered by a 26cc zenoah engine,I skinned the outside in real carbon fiber and the interior with carbon/kevlar.I use a spektrum DX3S 2.4ghz tx with a spektrum MR3000 marine rx.the boat is equipped with a killer bee remote kill switch that doesn't need any power source to work so it will still kill the engine instantly in the event of battery failure or broken wire or when I want to from the tx. the carbon fiber was hand laid and wetted out with a special resin,then around six weeks of hand sanding with different grades of wet and dry to get it super smooth,then polish.
I'm familiar with the 26cc Zenoah and the syle of Offshore boat you have produced with its unique finish. I'll look forward to an on-water shot. Thanks for the looksee. John: 👽

it's a good lake but it dose get weeded up during the summer.

Have had this boat in my shed for 2yrs,so I decided now to start doing it up. The boat was given to me by my friend who had it in his garage for 20 yrs, and it was given to him by his boss as it was sitting in his garage for along time.So I am not sure how old it is I think it is a Yeoman 34" model, because it has all metal cast fittings, as shown in the photo with rest of fitting which were on the boat. The hull paint work and decals are the original one that came with the boat, the motor which came fitted to the prop is a Johnson made in Hong Kong.So if some can tell me the approx, year that would be helpful. Could some one tell me where I can get the fire hoses for the stern well please.
re suction hoses , Ive just made ours by using a section of sink unblocking snake (from tescos A£ 1.27 ! ) stretched out and covered in 7mm heat shrink tubing before being heated / shrunk , the ends will be made up in brass tubing . jon

Just seen your post. Very nice looking model. 😀 Yeomans were the official supplier of white metal fittings for the Aerokits fire tenders and from the pictures it certainly looks like an original Aerokits model. I sold just such a kit and the Yeomans fittings on this site last year.
here's some pic's of my fire boat, it's taken me about 18 months to get it to look like this, not happy with the air vents on top of the boat but have got hold of some of the original vents, so will be taking a mould of these and then I will put them on the boat, then I can start the painting
Hello all you Fire Boat restorers, I carefully noted the rather belled style of the vents as less streamlined as compared to the bought ones and when the vent front edge is carefully sanded flush, I found suitably thickened in section, silicone "O rings" from my big box of multiple o rings pack as sold by car part and engineering shops. A small piece of plasticine was used to hold the rings in place and super glued to affix.With care the small dab of holding plasticine was uppermost to not stick as the glue ran around down due to gravity. When a few hours later the usual re paint of the modified vent was done,the paint adhered. I Oz I have to run in salt water at the lake entrance and no effects at all ( obviously). I love my I/c Fire boat ( some 34 /39 years or so) with its third engine now and I still cannot help myself as I did hinges for the rear hatch roof to now open. All the best for detailers. When Peter Dimberline stayed with us some years back he ran it at ballistic speed, which shocked me as I run it just up un the plane. (Secret) you can cheat and add an extra wide strip along the chine up to almost an additional 1/8 inch extra wide without visual loss to the lines of the vessel to help her get up and stay in a hard chop as mine is the 46 inch version and some 18 to 20 pounds in weight, so perhaps the smaller 34 inch version and electric may benefit from this idea as the smaller versions tend not to sit too well and seem too far out of the water exposing too much of the f'd keel for some reason? I really enjoy all the Fire Boat resurgence of you guys. Lyle.

whilst being off work with cancer have spent three months building my polar trawler which I had to remake a lot of superstructure with plasticard due to the old ply delaminated. it has twin screws powered by two 400 motors and 40 amp esc and 6v sla. I think she looks quite good

Hiya mate ,I too gave up building while I waged war with cancer,but I'm back. I find its Impossible to stop boat building and sailing .That looks a superb model very well built.Ismail a 4 foot chemical tanker.took me 2 years.
