The engine is an oscillating twin cylinder and the boiler is a 3" Centre Flue Gas Fired Vertical Boiler from "Miniature Steam". The gas tank is a 1-1/2" vertical refillable GasTank also from Miniature Steam Pty. Australia. The vessel is radio controlled with the skipper appearing to control the rudder. it has a smoke generator and a rc controlled steam whistle.Liked by Dave M
HELP !
I still can't seem to work out how to a post a video on the Video site.
- sandkbChief Petty Officer 2nd ClassHi John.
Go to video gallery. Click on. Scroll through the first page and you will come across 3 videos of Sweet Sue Steam launch. The first one is a test run up out of the water. The next 2 videos are taken at Kowhai Park. I've just checked all 3 and they are displaying. if you still have trouble Google up you tube and search for Sweet Sue Steam launch. They're in there too. Cheers Kevin
Lifeboat crewe had been on a night out so not quite vertical. Aplogies for the shaky video, it's difficult to sail and video at the same time.
- lesliebreameChief Petty Officer 1st Classvery nice boat and yes it is difficult to video and sail at the same time ! try to get someone else to steer while you video !! using a tripod is best. Les BreameLiked by Dave M
- Dave MVice AdmiralHi and welcome to the site.
If you are considering using an IC in the model I suggest you find a local club or water where you can sail. Many local authority waters prohibit IC engines.
I see you recently asked for details of a club in Torquay and note that we do have a club registered (Model Boat Clubs) as Torbay and District MBC. You could try sending a pm to one of the members registered as sailing there and ask for details.
Good looking crew!

- lesliebreameChief Petty Officer 1st ClassThe tablets are the same ones used in all MAMOD toys after they stopped using meths.Get them from DREAM STEAM under name MSS Mamod Solid Fuel Tablets. They are not liked by many as they are quite toxic in confined spaces so dont use them indoors!!! For small boats they are great as they weigh nothing and give good heat. Les BreameLiked by sandkb
- lesliebreameChief Petty Officer 1st ClassHull is about 36" long and from ORION Mouldings[i think !!] its quite nice and shows all the rivets in good detail. We are at present making a Puffer 54" long and i am going to make the hull from soldered tinplate[ i hope !!! ] Les Breame
A good evening's sailing. Boats looked better the darker it got.

Yes that's what I do. I am always amazed at the power the oscillator generates and once rotating very little steam is required to maintain speed. Then again it's not for windy or rough conditions. I would try gradually reducing the pressure until the engine show signs of stopping and then increase by a couple of psi to ensure safe running. You do not need to run the boiler at its max rated pressure when the escape valve will be opening just at a level that replaces what the engine uses. Can we have another video with the steam whistle sounding?
