Not your typical submarine but certainly an unusual semI submersible. Scratch built by fellow club member Brian Clewes this is a most striking looking vessel. Fiberglass hull and moulded perspex window. Home built waterjet uses a large 900 (I think) brushed motor, water cooled speed controller and 14.4v LiPo. Looks really spectacular on the water and Brian is working on the ballast to enable the model to remain just submerged. Video to follow in due course.

When I get to sea trials stage I will send Update and possible video footage.This boat along with the rest of my harbour, will be on view at the Abbergavenny Steam Rally this weekend June 3rd and 4th(Sunday Monday) in the model section marquee.

Since my last posting I have spent weeks stripping the paint, refilling where required and have had to make new roof and floor sections, worst part has been been the front windows as these were totally rotten once the old paint was removed, and making new ones was hard because the old frames they attach to is warped. I still have not fitted them yet as I'm looking to paint and glaze first.

Had been started as a cruiser, with one very small electric motor,then put in a loft for goodness knows how many years.Replaced prop shaft with 2, 40mm r/h and l/h props, 2x 540 motors running through 40a esc.Radio is 27mhz. 2ch. would like to swap to 2ghz to get rid of the unsightly aerial! I am awaiting some plasticard windows to Improve the looks and will slowly add fittings as and when.I tend to sail it every now and again on the boating lake in BUXTON, no-one has shouted as yet,though I'm not sure the swans approve.!: The photo on the water was just as the power was running down, none as yet at speed.It is very manoeverable with the twin rudders,almost on the gunwhales at speed.

She was gathering dust in an old reclaim ferniture wherehouse whilst we were on holiday last summer. Been told the yacht had been originaly scratch built in 1950s from a plan. She took me about half a year to rebuild. New parts as follow hiteck sail arm winch with 18lbs of torque. New futaba servo for the rudder. New sails & booms rigs & fittings. New deck made from plank strip wood & varnished. Also finished in painted Ivery white. She sail well in lite to strong winds At my local boating lake at Sheringham Norfolk .
works well on a Spekrum DX5E But can work on any other 2 channal transmitter .

She was gathering dust in an old reclaim ferniture wherehouse whilst we were on holiday last summer. Been told the yacht had been originaly scratch built in 1950s from a plan. that is a nice chinned hull Marblehead you have there I built a similar one called HAREM from a Vic Smeed plan

Photo shows my RAF crash tender in the colours as it was when first built in 1956/57 from a kit. (Red tops like all fire engines, well I was only 9 at the time.) This photo was taken at lakeside in 1993 when I first joined the Cwmbran Modelling Society. The Second photo shows the boat on display at the Portis Head Open Day event in 2000 several modifications taking place to the overall look of the boat. in 2008/9 I decided for it's belated 50th. birthday to revamp the model and bring it closer to the real thing. Damage to the woodwork being repaired and a colour scheme close to that of the real boat being applied. Several new deck fittings being made along with new window surrounds made out of plastic replacing the cardboard ones fitted in 2000. New decals and correct flag also fitted. The model was entered in the 2010 society Chairmans Comp. winning joint first place with one of my other models. Photo 4 shows my model as she is to-day repaired once again ready to sail, after hitting some Ice over the christmas period 2010 resulting in a hole in the bow that almost caused her to sink.
The model over the 54 years it's been around has been fitted with single and twin electric drives and to day it has a single johnson 550 brushed electric drive via a 2.5/1 gear box run off two 7.2 volt racing packs in series. The torque generated being too great for standard plastic props resulting in me using 40mm three blade brass props. The motor controller is an electolize 15 amp unit and I also use one of their switch units to activate the water pump for the scratch built water cannons. The water pump being salvaged from a 1960's car washer system and still goes to-day.

HI Larryshaw48 🙏 Sorry for the delay, been down with a bug from before Christmas. Several of the Triang Vosper Air Sea rescue Lanches came up for sale before christmas on E bay listed under Vintage Model Boats. All seemed to be for sale with their original box and in fair condition taking their age into consideration. Never had one or needed one myself as the boat shown above has been with me from 1956/57. HI all, I was given this model in a rather sad state as it had been in a junk box in a farm out-building and had been subjected to the weather from time to time . it had been there for about 20 yrs or more and the balsa hull was 60% rotten . I think it was originally IC powered but had been fitted with a Graupner Jumbo 6v motor and an old style rheostatic sc, ( I did try using the sc but it sucked so much power I gave it a miss - also had no reverse)
Amazingly the motor and sc still worked and with a bit of oil and cleaning the motor is still running well ! I'm using a 1975 Futaba 24v 10A sc and 3cell LiPo which pushes it along nicely. I stripped everything and replaced large bits of the hull, (which was fun as every time you picked it up you would poke another hole in it it was so fragile !) I got it to the stage where it would hang together fairly well and glassed the hull which has made it like the proverbial "brick one". The rest was very careful sanding of the deck and cabin, (they were ply so fared a bit better) and a lot of little filling bits to get it right.
Nav lights and cabin lights all work from the micro switch board, the curtains are left over Graupner Commodore (1975), I've added a mast, new windows,flag pole, cleats, ladder and handrails. Any ideas as to its manufacturer would be great. I have seen another one on our local "Trade Me" web site recently.

I got it to the stage where it would hang together fairly well and glassed the hull which has made it like the proverbial "brick one". The rest was very careful sanding of the deck and cabin, (they were ply so fared a bit better) and a lot of little filling bits to get it right.
Nav lights and cabin lights all work from the micro switch board, the curtains are left over Graupner Commodore (1975), I've added a mast, new windows,flag pole, cleats, ladder and handrails. Any ideas as to its manufacturer would be great. I have seen another one on our local "Trade Me" web site recently.
Mystery solved,- it's a 'FAIRACRE 11', Modelmaker plan 709 from the late 50s-60s and not a kit as I had assumed. it had obviously been well built by the original modeller.

HI fellow model boat people,just a couple of photos showing a rescued aerokits sea queen circa late 50s.
This was in poor condition, work was started mid January to strip down the various parts that required to be remade, deck/superstructure/roof panels/windows etc.
The hull needed stripping back to give a good surface for the finished paint work.
Completion of the basic boat is now getting near, and ready for fitting out with motor radio etc.
Hope to give more details later.

For my first foray into boats I have acquired what is like a Vosper Firefloat Mk.2 but it is different. The wheel house section of my boat is different, being longer, the mid-ship section having three windows in lieu of two and the stern is completely different in profile.
I have spent many nights trawling the internet to see if there is anything like my very detailed model but to no avail and I have even asked a few of my old work colleagues who are ex-naval men if they can help out in identification. I am wondering whether this could be an elusive Mk. 1 - the boat that was never put into commission.
I attach a few photos of my model in the hope that someone out there can throw some light on it. it is in very good condition and a few years old, is fitted with a Graupner Eco 600 motor on a single prop with 7.2 NiMh batteries. it is about 34" in length and 9" beam and goes really well, planes quickly and turns very tightly - in all a cracking boat. The numbers on the side of the boat are strange as they relate to what I believe is a coastal command unit - the numbers are not new as they appear to be original under the paintwork. Any help in identifying what actual boat it is modelled on would be appreciated.

HI Alan, it reminds me of an air sea rescue launch I went for a ride in when I was an air cadet in the year dot! Had three packhard engines as I remember and went like the proverbial!
