Sea Queen
Hi Model boat enthusiasts,
This is a photo of almost completed 2 model boats I have almost completed. The Sea Queen 50 years old find. it was found in an attic in a kit. The kit was in a very poor state and most of the timberwork had to be glued back together or remade. I had no plans for it and had to source a copy from the Model Boat website. it is a very nice model. The pilot boat was scratch built and sails very nicely. I have been building boats for about 30years and have built over 25 boats, scratch built all of them. I have included photos of some of my boats.

Fun Run
Our club had our Fun Run today. We operate out of Humber Bay in Toronto whilr the weeds are down. The sun is finally cooperating.
We have two ponds to run our boats in.The Sailors run in the big pond and the scale members run in the smaller pond.Attached are a few photos of the day.I must mention that the first picture is a new construction of a Marblehead out for a test run.The Canadian Coast Guard Ice breaker is totally scratch built with working radar and lights. This member works on his kitchen table. We found out later that he was born on a kitchen table.

Higgins PT Boat
This Higgins PT boat was built and sailed by a good friend of mine. it is scratch-built. it uses a single Turnigy 3639 1100kV brushless motor and LiPo battery. it is pretty new and has not had its number painted on as yet. its performance is excellent.

CB90
The Model is scratch built from Photos and profiles of the internet it is around 52 inches long and currently runs on two Graupner 700 turbo motors (14.4v) and dual Mtroniks 25A ESC (12v) running twin contra rotating 45mm props, this model can spin on its own axis like the real boat but does not use waterjets due to cost. Completed in 2017.

Whats a CB90

Its a Command Boat 90 originally built by Docstar in sweden and later also built in the USA under licence.
The boat has a multi role capability and has be used by the Army, Police, Coast Guard and Ambalence Service

Originally a Military craft for coastal waters and rivers with a shallow draft and powered by twin water jets this 15 ton Aluminum boat can deliver half a platoon directly on to beach heads via its landing craft type single man door at the bow.

This craft has excellent manoveraility and can crash stop ( go into full reverse and stop) in 1.5 x its length. No-wonder the american's wanted this boat.

A scratch built model of a working wherry the skipper/owner was the great grandfather of a near neighbour. Used to work the rivers Wensum and Yare here in Norfolk. Model hull clinker built. in balsa with resin inside and out. Sails really well with a detachable keel. One of four model wherries built.

Hector Read
e Hector Read was built in Hull in the 60s for the Gt Yarmout port and Haven as their new Harbour tug to be moored at the pilot station in Gorleston. Giving many years service, was finally sold on when most working ships were fitted with bow/stern thrusters. Much missed as part of the river scene. A scratch built model I made 18 years ago from photo’s and drawings from the Port Authority. Anyone know her ultimate fate?

A very fine scratch built scale model and the pics show lots of fine detail.
Typical of the period and sadly missing from our river scenes.
    Does the model sail?

Thanks Dave, Hector Read model powered by a speed 600 brushed electric motor with an electric speed controller. This gives plenty of oomph when it comes to rescuing stranded craft large or small on the pond, which is always a challenge I can never resist.

Sailing well in the sun and sparkling waters. A NZ Scow scratch built from plans. Unusual trading schooner based on those from the Great Lakes, USA.Actual vessel now restored as an example of an early NZ coastal trader.
