Here's my current project. This is an upgrade of an old model. I retained the hull from a German-made kit from the firm Krick (model "Lisa M") and re-made the upper deck and cabin using 3mm thick ABS plastic to resemble an American type "Down East" type boat. Here is on its sea trial past weekend and during its first light system test.

🤞I noticed there are a great deal of RAF plans for various fire tender etc but is there a kit for a Seaplane Tender like ST480 (based at Lyme Regis where this photo was taken) that picked up a pilot off Chesil Beach on 8th November 1941. I am about to put on a display regarding the aircraft and pilot and their history and I have a model of the aircraft a Curtiss P40 Tomahawk and would love to have a Seaplane Tender model on display.

I hadn't built a model of any sort since I was 15 years old and that was a control line aeroplane with a glow worm engine. 45 years later and regressing nicely back to my teenage years, my wife bought me (reluctantly!) a RC Boat Kit - Mowe 2. I had been wanting to build again for many years, but children and family and home situation did not allow.
So, over the cold Autumn and Winter Months I carefully put my spare nights to good use, rather than watching night after night TV box sets and re-watching the entire James Bond movies, not once but 2 or 3 times....
Anyhow after 3 months...the finished product. I should have started a blog but didn't know of this site until a few weeks ago.
Not a brilliant finished job, but a satisfying one, and it sails nicely on Bushy Park boating lake in Kingston-upon-Thames.
Now o nto bigger and more complicated things...a Fairey Huntsman 31.
This time I'll do a blog....👍

U.S. Navy PBR 31Mkll. Patrol Boat River.
This is a vessel that I'm building from scratch. To achieve accuracy I will be using a Tamiha 1/35 scale kit and scaling that kit up to 1/9th scale for the vessel I am building. it will measure up to almost 1 metre in length.

This boat developed a very noisy stuffing box even though it had marine grease. After a more careful inspection I discovered the gentleman who built it 25 years ago, had mounted the motor in a way that was not inline with the shaft. After running the boat for awhile the inner noise became more like annoying. The older universal used a flexible spring between the couplers. See photo.
I cut a nylon dog bone which was then inserted into a brass tube. Glued with super glue to make an extended universal. Next will be aligning the motor with the shaft and creating a new motor mount.

This is one of the limited edition Sirmar kits that was produce in the early 1990’s.this model was made by a friend of mine who’s a dockyard fitter and turner it was made about twenty eight years ago. Based on a tug that I worked on in and around Portsmouth harbour. This model has a working voith unit opening engine room skylights. Working lights, removable deck hatch to get at the unit like the real boat, the superstructure and gun whales are made from plasticard. The fender was made by a friend to the same type as used on the tug. The wheelhouse is copied like for like. The towing hook is copied from photos and slips like the real one. in all my years I haven’t seen another one like this . Sirmar made twenty numbered hulls as kits .

Hi Biscuit, I have just watched your video's, nice to see more on the water. I see you have also posted pictures of the Graupner Rhode island F1 tunnel hull. I also have one of these and as yet have not got around to giving it a run. I do not live near any ponds locally where I can be sure I'm allowed to run my models. 16 miles for an electric isn't far I also have IC powered and the nearest for those is almost 40 miles. I get very disheartened with the hobby but still cannot get it out of my vein's. I curious to know where you have fitted wedges under you Rhode island. What's the chance of posting a few pictures of the under side of her to give me some idea as to how you have done this. it would be nice to see so that I could also give it a go so as to make her a little better on her maiden run. Many thanks in advance and kind regards.

aero-naut mowe 2 kit. my first rc model boat with a few extras. The kit was ok to build but the prop coupling was a length of silcone tube ? it spun off at the first test run. This was the start of me fitting universal couplings to my boats. The company were being mean using a cheap piece of tube.It runs very quiet and smooth but needed a lot of front end ballast .i made this to try and drag my grandson away from his ipad, phone and the game of fortnite .I tried to get him to help build and run it but to no avail.I now am enjoying a second childhood building boat kits !

made from a krick felix launch kit.As usual i have made slight changes especially in regards to the final finish of medium oak stain.
The original windows were cut from a sheet using templates provided and some did not fit as they were on the small side.i used some plastic sheet i had to make my own replacements.I also changed the prop coupling for a universal joint(i always do)
I prefer the less is more approach to some models.
