Two Wavemasters, both refurbished ebay rescues, sailing at Crealy, near Exeter (one of the last times as the club can no longer use the water).
The first, rebuilt by Kalamunda, is brushless with NiMh cells and the second, having it's first sail since being rebuilt by Ian Gardner, has a Graupner 700 with 3s Lipo's (in parallel) on a 37.5mm X type prop- Electronize 30amp esc.
I think these are lovely looking old boats designed by Les Rowell of Aerokits fame, and obviously based on traditional cruisers from the Norfolk Broads- see Martham Boats, where you can still hire a wooden craft like these, although you'd definitely have the river inspector after you if you sailed up the Thurne at these speeds!

HI Graham,
Glad you liked the video. They are smashing boats aren't they? I really fancy a new IP Engineering one but have too many other projects on the go to make it a sane decision!
I have to say my WM is the best running of my faster boats, which include a Lesro Sportsman and a Rapier. She seems to hug the water in turns rather than bounce around, so a great design I think. I'd be interested to hear how you arranged you gearing on your WM. Did you make it up or but a ready made unit?

HI I bought them on Ebay, from Hongkong, they were about £9 plus some small amount of postage they have a brass motor gear, and an aluminium gear for the propshaft I use the system on three boats the Wavemaster a Sea Commander and a Fire Boat. On the water with 7.2 volts but will also run on 9.6 volts and 11.1 volts 3 cell lipo's. I will try and get a photo of the motor and gearbox. Regards Graham

Purchased secondhand, upgraded to a proper motor esc rather than the original/factory on/off micro switch for the motor power. Running a graupner 600 race motor and 7.4 lipo, basically just to run the brushes in on the motor before raising the battery voltage,
bit of a shaky video but try holding the transmitter and filming at same time on your own [ha ha].
it does have the capacity to move a ot faster, but would sooner work the motor in fully first

At last I have a Fairey Huntsman (34 inch) that appears to work, The photos are of it last Sunday at Cwmbran it needs a little extra ballast at the rear but once added it should be OK. it's running a Johnson 600 through a Graupner 3:1 gearbox at 9.6V with a 50mm brass prop, I may also try dropping the prop to 40 or 45 on the next trials.

Graupner Systems Catamaran (Second hand, and refitted) with Leopard 2860 5050kv Motor, it has 2 x 11.1v 4200mAh 50c-100c batteries in parallel, as the motor has a max draw of 120A, The prop is an octura X435 connected to a Prestwich models Strudder.
This was it's Second run, , this run was very successful, the speed took me a little by surprise, hence the expletive (Sorry). I would love to know the actual speed. After a short run, a connection on the electrics came adrift. all repaired and ready to run again now.

HI Fellow Modellers,
Another model from the RADMC fleet at the fleetshaven workshop and boat yard in Ponthir. This model was built from a Caldercraft Kit, This model came into my possession for the price of 20p, a raffle prize at Bryn Bach Model Clubs OPen Day 2010, when it was built is unknown. The item being made for display use and not finished off, no internal electronic fixtures. Did have a prop shaft and prop that had not been fitted correctly. 50% of all the fixtures had to be removed and refitted before they fell off, some didn't stay in place from the show back home. The model was finised off using a photo of the Milford star on the internet. The fish boxes and figures being obtained off DON one of the Society members who had a mould to make them in white metal, only required cleaning up and finishing off. A graupner 6 volt steam unit is fitted in the funnel and to make the boat a little more realistic on the water,a maplin steam sound system has been used to generate the sound of the engine. A simple mod allows the revs to be linked to the engine voltage. The drive motor is a 550 with the lowest revs I had in MJB's this was married up to a 2.5/1 gearbox I also had in stock. The main motor and steam unit are supplied from a 7.2 volt nicad racing pack. This model has had meny fishing trips on Cwmbran Boating Lake and at shows the Society visit. Hope you enjoy the pictures, Regards GreyWolf.

HI fellow Modellers,
Another model from the RADMC fleet at the fleetshaven workshop and boat yard in Ponthir. This model was built using a Billings Kit, bought for me as a Christmas pressent in 2009. A graupner 6 volt steam unit is fitted in the funnel and to make the boat a little more realistic a maplin steam sound system has been used to generate the sound of the engine. A simple mod allows the revs to be linked to the engine voltage. The steam engine rotates using a stripped down minI servo, fitted under the motor housing on the deck, again linked to the main motor voltage. The two 9.6 volt AA batteries and control gear are mounted under the boats floor, forward locker, a minI servo for steerage is fitted under the rear seat and the receiver is located under the wood pile. Figures are self made from items obtained from the local pound shop. The modal can be seen sailing at Cwmbran Boating Lake or at shows the society visit. Hope you enjoy the pictures, Regards GreyWolf.

Built from light ply and balsa from a plan available on the Model Hovercraft Association website (under resources) www.modelhover.org it is powered by two 540 brushed motors with dedicated speed controllers.
This model has now been sold and replaced with a newly built Canadian Coastguard Griffon 2000TD built off a Mark Porter plan but using two Graupner Speed 600 motors, one powered by a 3000 Li-Po battery for thrust and the other on a 7.2v Ni-Cad for lift.
