The 15amp speed controller quit after giving her some beans but to be honest its really isn't meant to be a planing hull. At scale speed she looks pretty good. I mounted a GoPro on a servo for a bit of fun but it was a bit too low down. Will sort these little issues but happy with the results so far.The Thames slipper launch got her bottom wet this morning🤓 Not enough rudder movement is the only issue. - Frankiesays1953Chief Petty Officer 2nd ClassThat’s a very sleek yacht and sails beautifully. I notice that you are sailing close hauled in several directions, what she like on a reach or run? There’s a fair breeze there, do you foresee having to replace the genoa with a jib in a blow? That’s a very sleek yacht and sails beautifully. - MartinH2Petty Officer 1st ClassHello Frankiesays, you are right, since that video I have moved the mast top backwards due to a pretty strong Lee helm which has worked a treat, she is pretty neutral now. Trying to sail and hold the camera meant sail trimming wasn't the best however broad reaching she looks and goes beautifully, straight downwind = no nose dives so far and very controllable. I have a jib which is about 20% smaller than the Genoa which I have yet to try but am still learning to work with the rig as it is at the moment.Hello Frankiesays, you are right, since that video I have moved the mast top backwards due to a pretty strong Lee helm which has worked a treat, she is pretty neutral now. Adrian used drawings of "Flying Scotsman" for inspiration, but is not a faithful reproduction, although "Old Trafford" is also quite similar .
This was the maiden voyage so plenty more work to be done on detail and ballast etc.as the boat still sits a bit low in the water.
For reference see :- http://tynetugs.co.uk/

This is another model that Model Expo commissioned me to build because is a new model that they are selling and they need one for their model display showcase.
The name of this kit is “Artur”.
Artur is the most popular fishing vessel among Brazilian fishermen. Many are still active in Brazilian waters today.
Researching this vessel I found out that many other nations like Russia, Norway, and Switzerland also used it. This type of vessel was also used in WWII to fight against Hitler by carrying ammo for the French.
This kit has gone through many upgrades by Nauticurso (Brazilian model maker). The kit I built is their first version, so after researching I decided to replace or created many parts of my own.
It comes with the running hardware needed for full radio control operation. Instructions Model Shipways Inc. carefully translates manual into English containing many photos showing step-by-step assembly.
All pieces are laser cut Amazonian wood.
Length 25”
Scale 1:32
Guaranteed to bring lots of fun and challenging moments for newbies and experts.
Maybe you guys know more about this ship than me. If you have any information about this vessel, please share it, I will be very glad to hear it.
This is an old photo of the real ship; notice how it carries the lifeboats in the Pilots cabin deck.
I hope you guys like this model. It took me 6 months to finish it.

This build is from an old Laughing Whale model and was given to me by the son of a great model builder that has passed away.
I know that this kit is r/c friendly but I did it as a static model.
Everything from the rub rails up is entirely scratch built. The Eagle figure head was hand sculpted.
Again I hope the model is to you guys’ liking.

I have that kit in very early construction and after many years it is suffering from multiple moves, no space to build and multiple moves. Here is a brif story of how I got my hands on the model.
I have to mentioned where I got this kit from because is always good the real story behind the kit.
The place is "SE Miller Guitars". http://www.semillerguitars.com/sea-of-galilee-boats/.
Scott Miller owns the business and I asked him how he came to produce this now famous boat kit.
This was his exacts words:
I was a moderator at MSW when Captian Pugwash was running the site and had just moved on from building kits to scratch building. I did the Triton cross section build that was going on at the time and that got me interested in building models other than standard scale ships. This lead me to building boat models because they are fun to build and can be done in much less time than a three master ship. The also don't require a lot of rigging which was attractive to me as well.
One model that was fun to build and could easily be scratch built was Midwest's Peterborough canoe kit. I made quite a few of these as gifts and this introduced me to building on a strong back and using thin CA glue to weld planks together
I started looking at different boats that I could model and found that no one offered a Sea of Galilee boat model kit other than a paper one from a German company. I found an excellent book by Shelly Wachsmann about the discovery of the Kinneret boat and that book had a set of ships plans in it. I used those plans plus what I had learned from building Peterborough canoes to build the first 16" Sea of Galilee model.
I’ve contact with old sailers of this tug, and they are follow me in Holland, and have a lot of information of these 1800 serie build Tugs, in that time,….
Now i’ve testing the lights and sound.
Tug is still under construction,…
- figtree7ntsAdmiralHi Albert90,Hi Albert90, Your Smit Nederland is superbly built, and I love the sound system! Pity we're so far away from each other? As, I'd love to do some tug boating competition with you? Also, Thanks for pointing out the wrong lighting on my mast! Regards, Ed-
