My scatch built 200th scale model of a KVG V class Battle Ship, the Duke of York. Based 0n 1/720th Revel plastic kit, 30 years old. First sail after a "refit" after being laid up in Garden shed for 10 or so years, fortunately was not as damaged as the Bismark store in same shed, as it was in a drier part of a leaky shed, just replaced some decking (with plastic sheet), added some missing small armament, lockers, Gun directors, Walrus Sea Plane etc I'd left of earlier model. She was original powered by 4 - 540 size motors, running 2mm Props (.50p each those where the days), upgraded her to run two on just twin props (4mm), leaving outer pair as dummies, may re connect at a later date. Brought her electrics upto 2.4 Ghz standard. Sailed well very steady on this her first sail after refit, at Ethrow Park.
Shop bought model given to me by my family Xmas 2012, from Kitshack at first they inadvertently order their internal kit for use with a Fibre glass hull, but kindly sent me complete kit for a small extra charge, and told me to keep the cut down bulkheads and keel etc, so may utilise them in another model.
Pity they seem to have moved on to pasture new these days. This Launches first sail at Ethrow Park, 2013. Still fitting out, at first stable but disappointedly slow on 3 blade prop, powered by a Johnson 600, but after a loan of a 40mm twin bladed nylon Prop, of she went at ssspppeedd, final session is when we re tried her with original tweaked 3 blader, not quite as fast but an Improvement,even better when we changed it for an opposite handed similarly tweaked prop, as we realised ESC was set up to run better that way
Glad you like it, unfortunately, just had a message from Ethrow club, that they are banning fast electrics boats, after a number of complaints from public, about wildlife being harried by someone sailing their speedboat at them. I am not one of them try always to run in empty water, when at all possible. Need to check what they class as fast, or head to local canal and its weeds for my next speed rush.
Completed (nearly, still a few more crates needed) in July after a 2 year build on a Kingston Moldings hull. Not a scrap of plywood has been used, all made from Oak, Mahogany, Beech and brass. All fittings scratch built, boiler from Maccsteam in Macclesfield, engine TVR 1 A BB from Macclesfield model engineering supplies. Runs on 60/40 butane propane mix. Radio 3 channels used on Futaba 6EX 2.4 ghz set, 1 fo1 for fwd/reverse, I for steering.
HI guys I've been luckily enough to of had the chance to buy this boat at the Heywood bring and buy.
It's in 1/16 scale and is four foot long. it's a complete scratch built hull using plastic sign bord.
The hull was built by Nick Rigby from our club in Bury.
All the rest of the detail has been done by his friend.
At the Monment she has the props installed but no motors.
I will be fitting her out with a couple of 900kv brushless motors and a couple of 90amp esc's all water cooled.plus two 11.1volt 5000ma lipo's in parallel to give a long run time. Hope you like the pictures!

was powered by a 66 k3 kelvin diesel used for seine netting scallop fishing and long lines will post more photos in near future skiboo
My latest project - Hull and some bits from a static display model, based on several photo's of Greek fishing boats, Mtroniks 400 motor, & 15A ESC, 12v SLA battery & 30mm 3 blade prop. Fish boxes from Coffee shop stirrers, Fish from long grain rice, Crew from Pound shop (Soldiers chopped & reshaped. )
She sails fairly well on first trial this week at Weymouth & Portland MBC, Miles Cross Farm lake . Hope to post video soon.

Fighting Cock was one of the fleet of North West Tugs (Liverpool Screw Towing and Lighterage Company) steam tugs, built by Cammell Laird in 1953. The model is built on a Kingston Mouldings Sun tug hull, the superstructure is scratchbuilt from styrene, with many fittings from Mobile Marine Models. The motor was 'rescued' from a mainframe computer data drive, and is direct drive to the propeller. Power is from 12V gell cell batteries with a speed control by EA Electronics. Both hull and motor were given to my father many many years ago, and the model was completed approx 7 years ago.

Hello Dave Thank you. No plans as such got some on line used a bit of them and pictures so made my own. I am an x toolmaker only took 3 weeks about 120 hours ish, 2 days to sew & decorate the sails, a day to make the hull, the rest to make the bits,the hull is 1 meter long and is a fully working ship pulley blocks all work & sails lovely. I enjoyed the build. Next one Royal Sovereign a bit bigger when I get time, once again Thank you. Paul.

This is my granddaughters springer. 18x8 inch, 4 inch rudder, 540/1, 6v sla, with a35 three blade brass prop,she's only 4 so if you come to sail on our pond, give her plenty of room. The safety part of it ,is she has a 10mm flashing red led on the top. Sorry I dropped on my last post

Greetings from Hollywood, California. 😎 Many thanks to David Metcalf at Metcalf Moldings for his advice and for so graciously replacing parts I messed up. This craft has been swimming pool tested (after all we're in Hollywood) and it ran beautifully. Next stop is the local pond. I chose brass counter-rotating props. Those are lithium batteries tucked under the sides. I chose to recut the decks out of wood. Brits rave about plastic but I found it difficult to cut and forget about sanding down the edges. (I guess if you cut it properly you don't need to sand the edge.) Major mistake: watching a You Tube video that told me I should make brass joints using a Propane torch. it will make a good joint but it MELTS ALL THE OTHERS. There was a lot of learning here for me and thanks to David's fine kit I think I'm somewhat of a better model builder.

By the way its contra- rotating props, but if you have a swimming pool as a test tank you must take some criticism, its OK I am only jealous.
My first attempt at a model boat was a scratch built Rother
at one inch and a quarter to the foot, a big buggar and heavy it had a car battery for power and ballast.

Scratch built some years ago, powered by 6volt PB battery.
She was always very slow and hard to manoeuvre. She was made from MM plans. I could never get her to behave in the water. 27Mhz TX/RX. tried changing motor, prop 6 to 12 volts nothing seemed to make much difference, gave up in the end. You can't win them all.
SemI Kit, I.e fibreglass hull and superstructure and wooden rubbing strake all the rest is scratch built. A very good sailer and very stable. Quick to build only a month and powered by 540motor and 35mm prop. Lasted for hours on one charge.

Thanks for the info, I'll give it a go. trouble is I've had the hull since 1982 so it's a bit out of date as Cygnus then started to produce the GM 33 Continental like yours. But I'm not beat yet, even if I have to end up making the wheelhouse from scratch ! 😰
