FOR SALE Veron Vosper Target Towing Launch 28"

I built this about 40 years ago, quite a rarity now I believe. Has not been in the water for about 30 years. I plan on bringing it up to date with speed controller and lipos as it used to use large heavy batteries and manual speed controller powered by servo. 👍

Slim Nip 2

My Bermuda rigged "Slim Nip 2" evolved from many hours of enjoyment I have had building, sailing and re tweaking previous "Nips".
The Bermuda rigged "Slim Nip 2" was a natural progression from my recent uni rigged "Slim Nip"
I just had to explore how an extended (76cm) Bermuda rigged hull would look and sail ?.
Length - 760mm , Beam - 170mm , Mast - 1100mm (Deck to top).

She look really good. If she was mine I would try the following idea. Lower the jib boom closer to the deck, add a bit more camber into the sails and open the slot up between the jib and the main and the jib when the sails are pulled in.
Just my thoughts enjoy sailing her

Hi Roger , all noted. I did put on an adjustable jib rack expecting to have "juggle" positions. With the weather starting to improve hopefully I can spend a bit more time working on the finer points. Someone once said to me , "you can get anything to sail , but its more difficult to get it to sail well" - How very true !!!!.

Testing results sofar of the SMIT harber tug

This kit from BillingBoats, the SMIT NEDERLAND was A harber tug in Rotterdam Netherlands build in 1979. There where 9 of this tugs working in the harber. You can find more of my building in https://www.modelbouwforum.nl/threads/smit-nederland-billing-boats.282005/

I’ve contact with old sailers of this tug, and they are follow me in Holland, and have a lot of information of these 1800 serie build Tugs, in that time,….
Now i’ve testing the lights and sound.

Tug is still under construction,…

Control systems

Has anyone any experience of running some items on a boat by Wi Fi/Bluetooth in parallel to the boat been operated by normal Rx/Tx equipment.
Using ESP8266

Good info from RNinMunich and probably not generally known.
I would switch on the Bluetooth before your Tx and all should be ok as the Tx (certainly those of recent manufacture) should avoid using the channels selected by your Bluetooth device.
All devices use Frequency Hopping and use a shared map of hop times and frequencies between devices to identify heavily used channels and avoid. This is the binding process.
The info is constantly monitored and regularly updated to allow for new transmissions.
That being the case both should work without issue but as ToraDog says I would not wish to use the Bluetooth device on a critical control.

Hi Nick, I use BT music players in a couple of my boats, as well as a remote key fob (433mhz) operated engine sound start relay, and have no problems with either. BT Doesn't have a great range (around 40ft on the water) but if you are just using it for an effect which for close up it should be fine. Bench testing will tell if it will affect your set-up (range test outside etc).

I've used it from my watch to the boat, the small Ruizu player to the boat, the Ruizu player in the boat to the BT board/player, for music and radio - aerial on the boat is functional for the radio, (aerial to Ruizu player to board via BT) all BT board functions (including music from an SD card ) controlled by an ifrared remote- pic 4), from the Ruizu player to a BT speaker in the boat and from Ruizu player in the boat to the BT speaker. No problems so far.

That speed looks so much more realistic to how I used to enjoy real touring in my kayak as a younger fitter lad.
Regular trips from Leicester to Skegness by kayak, and collected by my dad for return trip. 3 days out 2 hours return.
Thanks for reminding me of my youth.

Orca complete with crew

At the club pond today I have completed the Orca to my satisfaction. the crew figures are complete and fitted in situ, Matt Hooper at the helm, captain Quint up front with the harpoon gun, chief Brody serving out the smelly chum at the stern. The battery ran for at least 1 hour, it’s a 3s lipo 2200,100c when coupled to the charger it had 70 % left in

Each to his own, but I much prefer small water craft modelled to 1\24, 1\16 or even 1\12 scale - rather than far larger ships unavoidably modelled on a tiny scale.

"Exuberent" DH142

South Devon Crabber :- Cygnus GM 32' 1/12 Scale. Donor hull 32" fitted out/scratch built. Replica of actual vessel that floundered off Weymouth in 1983. Model build started in 1981 and completed in 2018 !!!

January 2023 - Weather being kind for now and the end of the month saw a great selection of models out on the lake _ but not without incedents !.
NOTE :- Look out for the collision !! (around 0.30 seconds into the video). - thankfully no major damage. And the rescue right at the end !.

Sorry to hear of the flooding and I am glad you had minimum damage. It seems that mother nature is not to happy about the way we humans have been treating her and the earth and she is showing her rath.
