FeiLun FT-011 HIGH SPEED Ready to Run electric Racing Boat
Been flying planes for many years and never thought to try boats until very recently. Just tried out the Feilun FT-011 and thought it was awesome for a first time single hull boat. Fairly quick, good run time and the fact that it will self right if it flips is a big bonus. Could not flip it myself despite some full speed tight turns but think it probably would if jumped some waves. You would expect for a relatively cheap outfit that the seals might not be perfect but after the first run there was virtually no water inside. 5.5 minute running time as well which seems decent for a 4S2200 pack. Really enjoyed it and looking forward to taking it out on the water again soon. Filmed with the Panasonic AG-UX180 4K Pro camcorder.

Aerokits Solent (plan built)
This is my just finished Solent built from the original plans and templates which I bought on eBay. Like many others on this forum, I have come over from aircraft, so that knowledge gave me s head start building this. She will hopefully get her first outing next week weather permitting!

CG-52301 "TRIUMPH"
This is my latest progress on the Barracuda RC Boats 52' MLB, US COAST GUARD "TRIUMPH"CG- 52301. I was up until 0500 this AM attempting to finish sheathing the hull. The deck housings are just about ready for paint. I really don't enjoy covering natural wood, but it's a must to achieve proper detail, I reckon. I'm awaiting 1/8" scribed sheathing for the deck, the fantail semicircle will be 1/16" sheathing, and the outboard perimeter of the deck will be 3/16" light mahogany strips. She's powered by a 775 Johnson-type 6-12v motor turning a 4mm shaft and a 75mm 5-blade Raboesch wheel. The 5-blade isn't OEM, but I reckoned she needed some extra muscle to get to the party in distress.

Almost complete Veron kit based on the Vosper 110' fast attack craft built for the Republic of Singapore Navy in the early '70s. Fitted with a Shockwave 2 sound system I propose to fit ultra bright LED to the main armament to represent muzzle flash to sync with the sound system.

Pics 1, 2 & 3. Gave 4 functions Nav lights, Signal Lamps flashing, Whoop Whoop siren, and smoke unit from one proportional channel. Still seems to work 30 years later!😊 Around the same time I added a winch for the crane on the stern deck and also made a home cooked PCB with a simple forwards / backwards motor driver; again CMOS chips, driver TRs and relays. Pics 4 & 5. Pulled in well but there was no free-run mode on the winch so it needed something like a tin o' beans on the hook to run it out 🤔 . Lovely smelly etching for the PCBs 😆 Ferrous oxide!? Or was it ferric chloride? Never did like chemistry, I was a physics man. But it worked😊 Most of the bits were sort of 'lying around' at work😉 BTW: if anyone needs CMOS or 7400 series TTL chips I still have pretty good stock! Nowadays it's all plug n play and such things are miniaturising so fast one day they'll disappear up there own whatsits! Back then half the fun was doing it yourself and squeezing the utmost out of a 2 or 4 channel radio. One of my first boats was an Aerokits Crash Tender powered by a Frog 2.49cc diesel. The radio was single channel, one press of the button for right rudder, 2 presses left rudder, press and hold for throttle.

Titan
This Titan model was built originally by my late father Don Newman in the 1950's from a Model Maker design. She has always sailed well and apart from some short lay-ups,she has remained active over the years. Various upgrades in her electronics and lighting mean that she is a very effective model for night runs. in1954, she was operated by H.M. Queen Elizabeth during an official visit to the Hydraulics Research Startion at Howbury Park

I think that she is holding the button box of a typical ground-based TX. She almost has her back to the model......My father worked as a scientist there and met many dignatories. Fast Patrol Launch
This Fast Patrol Launch was originally built by me and my father in'62/3 it was my entry into marine modelling. initially free-running with a tiny old school blue-cased Mabuchi, it was never 'fast' -as a result it was recomisioned several times over the years but remained dull. in 2013, it was refitted yet again but this time she got a nice potent brushless and a full array of lights. Now she goes very well here at the Oxford lake.
