This will be last Sequin Tug run for 2020 weather great for Nov.6th it was 19 C today & will be nice weather for the next few days Then the cool weather will be back again . You can see that most of the real boats are now out of the water & are now in storage for the winter because Hamilton Harbor usually freezes over .
Managed to shoehorn in a GT Power sound unit, and seeing the boat has a 'V8 installed' I thought I'd go with the V8tyest sound there was in the file😁😁. You can hear Grahams timer switch the air and water pumps on at the start of the vid, (after I switch the power on) - off-reset-on and off again before the engine start. The engine sound is a little bit muffled as the unit is buried under everything in the stern, but still gives a reasonable effect (well I think anyway😁)
Smoke, water and air are ready to go,- just waiting for some V regs to come via sampan.
Thanks Ed, the GT Power unit has about 55 different car and diesel machinery sounds (unfortunately a lot of noisy high revving 4 cyl sounds) but there are a number of good ones which can be applied to boats.
Hi Pete, the throttle is mode 1 on the 9x. I usually use a 6ch HK6DF which I've converted to twin throttles for the MTB, HSL and ST (was bought as mode 2 but converted to mode 1 and modified to twin throttles). I bought 2 of those a few years back before they changed to inside aerial and digital trims, (basic 6ch, - one for small planes and one for boats) I think they were also a Fly sky with HK stickers, but they have been 100% reliable. I needed a bit of programming ability with the jet unit (end points ) for the bucket and a few more switches for lights etc, and with only one motor in this boat the 9x was perfect. I use it for planes as well and have about 6 models on it.
Left stick rudder is used for arming the smoke/water/air timer which Graham built.
Had a large moment of enthusiasm yesterday and fitted the jet unit and associated bits. Then it was time to wet its bum for a test. First off, the jet wouldn't suck water without pushing the stern down slightly, (as I expected due to the boats' light weight.) I added 300g to the stern and she was away😊 Happiness filled I were😁!. Reversing bucket works very well (even though it's a bit of a blob on the transom). You really need one if you don't want to go forward forever, trying not to 'sail yourself into a corner'.
I Need to waterproof the pushrod holes in the transom but the bellows I bought are too stiff and compress too much, so I'll have to come up with another method, (probably some deflectors for a start. Only a problem when in reverse with a bit of throttle on. Plenty of power with the 2s I was using, but motor is rated 12-24v so it would scream, -even with a 3s. I'll start with 2s and see how it goes. Might have an initial blast on the lake this week if all goes well, although I'd like to finish the deck bits first.
Just waiting for some Voltage regs to come so I can complete the electrical side with the fancy bits.. The mechanical and electrical sides are as good as done, Grahams timer is working perfectly, with the water pump and air pumps hooked up (going to install a VReg on each one plus the smoker).
No plans for a camera. I think PD Donald is finished now. He’s getting a bit heavy with the extras and I don’t want to find him diving and failing to resurface.

Just a little run today & there was no Lobsters in the bay today The Model is a Midwest kit with a bass wood hull the kit had balsa wood & fiberglass but I like basswood instead for the hull . The name of the boat is from a Stompin Tom Conners song .

RC Sailing No 107 includes a broad range of Buxton Model Boat Club members boats that include Yachts , Tugs , Rowing boat , Submarine and other power boats.
Managed to connect up the motor once all the drive bearings were in.. first video is with a 7.2v battery (which was actually nearly flat!) and then in the second video with a fully charged 11.1v lipo!
Might get the Atlantic RIB to plane yet..

Not something you see every day! Saw a 'Sealegs' boat coming in from over the horizon and it eventually came straight onto and up the beach past the Orewa surf club. It then proceeded about 300m down the main road (holding up the traffic) to the petrol station to fill up, then went back and down the beach, into the water and away. Guy broke a number of rules doing this but looked like one of those 'don't give a stuff' people, His wife and tiny kid (the only one with a life jacket) were sitting in the back all the time.
The Sealegs is an NZ designed and built (built in Albany- Auckland) boat sold (and copied) all round the world. Really amazing piece of kit. Drive is hydraulic, and driven by a small self start diesel motor in its' own compartment. If I ever won Lotto I'd certainly be looking at one😁 They have a special drive on trailer as well.

Hi Doug, see comments on the other vid😁. Most of the people who own these live on beaches with riparian access, so they can drive straight to the water from their front yards. Someone had parked one on a sand bank on the shore of the estuary a few weeks back and gone somewhere (visiting perhaps) and it looked hard case sitting there on its' wheels in the mangroves. They can also squat, and sit on the hull while on land with the wheels down slightly to level them. Pretty clever machine but rather expensive.!

I spent a day in one several years ago photographing an Etchells yacht race series in Australia. The versatility was brilliant, especially being able to pull up in the river at the end of the day and get photos that otherwise would have been lost.
Cheeky B . Could have had him for a few traffic violations . Description of vehicle on the docket would have been interesting - imagine the beak saying "what sort of vehicle ?"
Not much of a surfing beach then - is it always that flat ? Being on the tip of Africa the waves roll up here all the way from Antarctica ........ Not for nothing this place has two names - Cape of Good Hope - and Cape of Storms. Proved to live up to the latter this Winter - were told to batten down the hatches on a constant basis.......
Hi Peter, using the private surf club access ramp (private ramp) driving a 'vehicle' on a public road without a current registration $200,-without a current warrant of fitness, $200, none of the 3 occupants wearing seatbelts -$450 and probably a few other things as well such as driving an illegal vehicle on a public road. Probably looking at fines in the $1000, range plus possible confiscation of 'vehicle' or stopped from driving further and a tow truck required to remove the 'vehicle'
Just lucky no cops came past or they could have had a field day,- also the cop shop is just up a side street past the service station😮. The old thing of 'never a cop when you want one' applied. The waves were around 3ft earlier as it was a calm day, but can get to around 6ft in a good breeze. They are constantly having to cart the sand from the southern end to the northern end as in big storms it all moves, (the beach is 3km long so they do it with scrapers.) They are trying to get a big sea wall built to stop the shore erosion as well.
