The wheelhouse/cabin is relatively easy I grant you, it's the hull lines that represent the greatest problem.
And we have no plan view to CGI the deck.😭
But like I said, even if we manage that, based perhaps on the lobster boat, David still has to learn the necessary techniques to translate the plan into the parts of the whole!
You and I, and many others on this great site have been doing that for decades, but David seems to be a greenhorn in that respect.
No racing driver ever started by jumping into a Formula 1 or Indy 500 car but by scraping his arse on the ground in a go cart! (Bin there dun that - Owaaaah!😭)

Great conversation. Since we know the length and beam, which David provided in an earlier post, just assume the distance from forward cabin and bow. There is enough in the photos to draw the wheelhouse, windows are common sizes. When you look at the photos, we can see the approximate height of the bulkheads from where the legs of the men touch the rails.

Draw up the deck. Draw up the coaming and superstructures. Also any other hatches.

I use Solid Edge from Siemens (Don't ask where I got it from If I had to buy it I couldn't) which is a 3D package but still not enough info

Appreciate your efforts Ian 👍 and I understand and share your frustration.
None of the photos thus found are suitable for use as inputs to my 2D CAD programs either.
Would need some extensive effort with a 3D capable CAD suite. Which I would like but don't have.🤔
Having said that I agree with Ron that the hull has a great similarity with a lobster boat.
For which I have a plan that maybe could be modified to make a reasonable facsimile of the Romulus/Remus hulls. But that entails a fair bit of work and is only a fraction of the story.
David needs to learn how to read a plan and translate it to wooden parts.
DIY woodwork is a far cry from the filigree woodwork of a model boat!
I agree with carvel hull, but much hacked about in later life, especially above the waterline.

I feel sympathy for David as he is obviously trying to realise a long time dream, as indeed I am with couple of projects, and he has apparently suffered a hard knock or two lately.
But nevertheless I stand by my previous post-
Jumping straight into a scratch build of a 'lifetime dream' for a first time build is predestined to end in a discouraging disaster.

I can only hope that we can convince him to start with something easier to learn the basic skills.
I strongly recommend a simple kit rather than a scratch build from a plan as a first step.
I'm sure we'd rally round to help him along the way with that.

I tend to agree, Start with a plan from Sarik or a small kit like Hakits Morston. With the photo's etc I don't have enough info, it looks like a Carvel Hull. I have searched everywhere but not enough info. It looks as if Wels Boi was looking at a website " Ships Nostalgia" a few years ago asking the same.
I am leaving this conversation now as I feel I can't help one bit

I also agree with you that there is a definite similarity with lobster boats, apart from the derricks fitted to lift the heavy sprat load from the 'paired trawling'.

I don't think that Derek Cox will have any idea how to make a plan from photos. Not his game.
He's an artist come historian not a model builder. But that's for David to sort out with Derek directly.
Our research seems to be better than his - at least we've discovered that there were 6 or 7 similar boats not just three😉

That's a good simple kit for learning the basics you've found there.
Wells Boi (or David as I believe his name is - my spies are everywhere😉🤓) is well advised to learn the ropes on something like that.
He may also like to look at the Hakits range of simple kits suitable for a newby.

The design reminds me of a Lobster boat’s hull.

I have a 6ft paddle steamer with a steam plant. Built of 1/16” balsa impregnated with epoxy, still going strong. Finished in 2001. You do not need pitch pine or oak.

I have old pine cladding but its a bit knotty in places lol I could get it cut down to suitable thicknesses.
The boats were varnished when new but i think a more golden colour ? so what woods wood be suitable as i dont want to stain the wood and have patchy bits

Pitch Pine, Not available really as there are no commercially viable stands left in the world. Some secondhand supplies but you would most likely have to buy a church roof.

I do not know if this could be of any interest to you but someone called Simon Pappendick, jstarboatservices1@gmail.com is putting together a list of all boats built by Anderson, Rigden and Perkins who were the successors to Rigdens who built Remus. Whether he is only interested in the yachts they built or is also covering the commercial boats, I do not know. Perhaps he has the company records of Rigdens, I don't know, but you may think it worth contacting him in case he can help you.

You were asking about building materials in another post. Pine, Oak? Are you aware many of us use birch ply frames. Basswood, Mahogany, Birch, some use fruit woods such as Lime, Pear, but just because the original vessel builders used a specific species of wood, does not mean the model builder uses the same.

Almost, all of us apply light thin sheets of fibreglassing over the hull, and then paint to the desired colour.

Is there anyone in your realm of friends who may have experience do R/C boat building? Ask at the pub, church, or other.

According to this website, the film is not available on line, but it shows the Remus fishing for Sprats along with another vessel, Cortina, both owned by the Leggatt brothers of Faversham, Kent.

That was some years ago and how i remmember him.The other year he was sold on ebay for £500 by a local resturant owner .I tryed to find out who bought it but never did.Apparently he was going to restore it and ust it to catch his own fish for the resturant
