a simple piece of advice join a local club as the members there a very helpful.
I would not suggest you go brushless with Lipo / Life batteries. Incorrect use and maintenance can end up a disaster Suggest Brushed Motor and NiMh Batteries easy to care for.
Remember that this is a fishing boat not a high speed cruiser

WellsBoi, I agree with Ron. Keeping your first build simple certainly has a better chance of success than using equipment beyond the need of the model.
It would not be productive to over-build the running gear in a model that isn't designed for it. I think you'd be much happier with a fishing boat model that acted like a fishing boat.
The list that Ron provided is ample for a first build. When this boat proves out and you're comfortable operating it, then look to the next build and expand on what you've learned from this one.

Interesting thread as my family had a house and speedboat in Wells in the 1980s and remember the area well and I've also produced plans and built a model from a small photo - in my case a Fairey River Cruiser prototype.

I must go through my box of photos and see what I've got of Wells - not that I used to take many in those days.

Ive arranged to book an appointment at the local hobby shop for some Balsa wood as he click & collect only due to the covid restrictions

One guy on your tube has done a comparission test on a boat on both with brushed and with brushless in the same boat at differant times and found better results brussless motors and litho batterys with a speed control giveing better performance with less weight

I was thinking i aleady have a trailer that would take two boats but need to measure the inside first as iam not sure what size it is .I would have to make a cradle for the boats aswell

As the original was 39 feet and taking 1" to the foot the easiest scale would be 1:12 which would give you 39" Model Length
If you work in 1:10 Scale the boat would 46.8" Long

As Remus had the refit after the leggatts sold the boats when Alf & George`s retirement came along
Remus had the new wheelhouse longer than the origanal
However i prefer the one it was built with and it will be Varnished
I have asked Alan to look at andersons records about any refits R&R had

I felt it strange that as both were built as a pair Remus had a differant wheel house .Maybe to accomodate either George or Alf`s height However it was rebuilt in the 70s possable at adersons.

I can import your Autocad files into either Corel Draw or Corel Designer.
To get them to show up properly in a JPEG or PDF export though I had to thicken up the lines from hairline to 0,75 or 1mm! Scaling for David could be fun as well.

I had wondered if Andersons ect had taken on R J Perkins &Sons after they folded and weather the plans had moved with the new owners but with Andersons folding aswell in the 70s ? i had hoped the documents Plans may have been saved by someone ? but the museum hasnt got back to me yet.Maybe with the covid there not open .
