We won't be getting ours till the end of 2021 by the sound of it! PM 'bucky' is waffling on with the same crud every interview. We are supposed to have 2 types coming,- (along with Jesus😁) but who knows. This lot couldn't lay straight in bed!, haven't fulfilled an election promise yet,- all talk,- bunch of noddys.😐 I think 'buckymania' is declining rapidly😁 They are letting bands, celebrities, film makers (just had a Japanese crew making a cowboy movie for Netflix in the closed down Waiwerea thermal pool complex,- around 300 locals and o/s people there) tourists etc in, but won't let grandparents/parents in to see their kids/grand kids??

My GP rang today to offer me a covid jab, - there I could have had two and been twice as immune! but no such offer for Alice to have one and I would have thought as my carer as well as wife she should also be protected so that we were both immune. She's always had the flu jab on those grounds.

Hi Nerys ,maybe it was to see if I was immune to hospital food😁 which in fact was really good ,joking aside I just think they were being slightly over cautious it didn't matter if I said I was feeling fine they would do another type of test.

I had my jab at the hospital tonight, evidently immunity does not occur until three weeks after the second jab, which is in twelve weeks. I must admit, I'm feeling a bit 'woozy', but whether that's the jab or the dialysis, I wouldn't like to say.

Hi Martin , I went to see the consultant feeling fine he wanted to keep me in for some tests ,kept in for over a fortnight (feeling fine) and let home yesterday still feeling fine ,tests non-conclusive .
Seems different rules depending where you live my mum is 91 and still lives on her own with no help (lucky woman) and hasn't had her jag yet,as she says she doesn't go out except for a walk round the garden and gets everything delivered so is not really at risk .

As for the Doctor maybe he has not received clear instruction.
There is a lot of confusion country wide, so it will be just a matter of time before you get the jab.

My son was told he had to shield when this pandemic started, now we are in the tightest lockdown we have ever been in and my son has not been told to shield.

Having just got out of hospital again and sent a letter from the Scottish government to shield again, I asked my doctor for the jab and was told I wasn't in the criteria yet ,alright I know I'm only 64 with cancer ,but the doctor couldn't tell me what the criteria was .

Hi Pete. The sister in hospital apologised for not being allowed to give Alice her jab and said that it would have to come through the doctor. She is of course completely entitled as my carer. Unfortunate, because our GP is not the most efficient at doing anything, for instance, it's been easier for Alice to get a flu jab at a local pharmacy, sometimes paying £10, than to get one from the GP. Please remember, this is Wales NHS, not England.

Pete, no, my jab is being done in the hospital where I am a patient but they told me that it is patients only and they said that Alice's will come through the GP.. They gave me a lot of paperwork about it this evening to peruse beforehand.

Glad to hear that you will be getting the Covid jab in a couple of weeks Nerys, but what about Alice? has she been given a date yet? I have just received an SMS telling me I have an appointment on the 22nd of this month at our ICC (integrated care center) about a 10 min bus ride, on a route only 2 mins walk away, can't really complain about the locality, but no news of a jab for my wife.😊

Colin, I think it disgusting that a town the size of Aberystwyth , which is more or less the regional centre for quite a large rural area would have the capability to dish out vaccinations, Surely the GPs, the hospital or even the pharmacies could take it on between them. GIG, the Welsh NHS does leave a lot to be desired in many ways, but something as fundamental as that, I ask you. Surely, it's only like doing a second dose of the flu vaccine with a few extras.

Thats great news Nerys, my mum was sent a list of vaccination centres for her, the nearest is a round trip of nearly 60 miles. She doesn't drive anymore, and no relatives nearby to take her. You'd think Aberystwyth would have capability to give vaccinations.

Our govt is importing cases of the new strain (letting every man and his dog in it seems, but saying nothing) just so we can have a taste of it and see if we like it!! We are being treated like mushrooms by pm buckey Adern and her slimy mates. We are doing well at the moment ( no community cases at present) but they are risking a major problem by letting all these people in, ( they are not all returning New Zealanders, and seem to be coming from everywhere??!) We have 32 flights arriving today, - 16 different airlines- (Just at Auckland airport) from all round the world, (even China !!!!!!!!!,-seriously??) - can't be all returning citizens at this stage??? Bloody ridiculous!

There will be plenty of fake pre flight testing certificates coming in, especially from places like India where you can buy anything, so how are they going to control it effectively and know every one is genuine? Anyhow, it's happening all over the world, and we are unfortunately just going to have to learn to live with it safely, till it crawls back into the hole it came out of.

There is heavy handed and their has been deaths at the hands of SA defence Force.

The Ontario, Canada, leaders have added more restrictions as the virus is hitting long care facilities very hard again.

Though of our extended family, five have it, one being an ICU nurse, my niece. She stepped in to help her grand parents as her grandpa was very ill. He is in his 90’s, they live on a farm, but they did not want to send him to a hospital as no visitors or family would be allowed to be with him. His wife said, No, she would look after him, and she is 94! He is better, but the virus infected her, their son, his wife, and their daughter, who is the nurse. All but one, experienced a loss of taste and smell for a period of time.

My wife and I are well, we stay home most days, just a 2 km walk or so each day for some exercise. Cannot stay “glued” to the workbench all the time, or one might begin to look like the couch...over stuffed🤓

The problem for me is this covid war is wining and some still refuse to take it as deadly.
The more people respect the need to stay at home wear a mask if you have to go out.
The better you protect yourself the more you protect others.
Not sure how to break through to the people who think it's fake or feel they can't stay apart from one another.
We are social animals and do need to be with each other if we stay strong and continue to help each other in this fight time will come when we can get together.
My wish would be that we.At the end of this war could get together and congratulate each other face to face.
The strength we show now will help all of us to get to a better place.

I have no sympathy for anyone who gets treated a little heavy handedly, if they abided by the rules then they would not be in that position.
As far as i am concerned anyone who dose not stick to the rules deserves to be fined and maybe publicly humiliated.
I see it here people are openly flouting the rules and they think the rules dose not apply to them.
The number of people that are catching Coved is rocketing up and so is the death rate.
Sorry if i sound a bit harsh but the quicker people do what is required the quicker we will be able to get back to normal.

The SA defence force have been very heavy handed right through our lockdowns and have caused deaths and injuries ( What they trained for). They should back up the police and not operate independently.

Hi Ian, Well that might be a good thing too, I guess. Our UK police are becoming much tougher on those who flout the Covid rules. But the use of Armed Forces in civil policing operations is really tricky, they need special training to deal successfully with the issues that arise (said as a serviceman involved with Fireman's Strikes many years ago!)

Unlike SA where our defence force is making sure people stay off of beaches

I have a model room that within it has a lot of items that are surplus to my needs.

A) Boat parts are virtually non existent!
B) Using imported paint and the original manufacturers are only despatching now and not all colours are available (Tamiya and Rustoleum). Murphy's law comes into play big time I can't get the colour I need. Murphy was an optimist

Yes, the forum is a calming influence and somewhere where we can have a moan and know we will receive sympathy. As far as getting bits and pieces, I have found that my normal suppliers are often out of stock these days. I assume they are still playing 'catch-up' with their Chinese manufacturing companies, so I find myself buying from a lot of different firms these days. Surprisingly, or is it, but I'm finding there are a lot of bits and pieces I want for my models that I can get on Ebay and very often , post free, making them cheaper than the normal model firms. The postman or a courier seem to call most days!.

My friend lives in Herne Bay, we email each other two or three times a week. She and her husband normally go out a bit, they have a campervan and get away in that, but that's not worrying them as much, she paints, he is a woodturner and they both play music , but, what's worrying them most is that they've both lost interest in doing those sort of things, she says she is doing even less housework than normal. She has recently learnt that cancer she thought had been disposed of has come back and has already had one lump removed, but is to start several consecutive days of hospital visits including five days of radiotherapy, so at least they are going to get a bit of travelling. The hospital is forty miles away in Barming, the wrong side of Maidstone.
Changing the subject, no I didn't know about a Wickes discount, trouble is, we do not have a modern iphone or anything.

I heard from an old friend of mine who lives in Kent, which is probably locked down as hard as anywhere. She tells me that she and her husband a normally pretty active couple have become so lethargic that they just can't be bothered to do anything. She blames the lockdown and the fact that being told she has to stay at home, she wants to go out, but can't. I feel exactly the same. We don't go out that much, but I'd love to just be able to go out for the day, go somewhere nice, have a meal and come home refreshed, but no, all I see is the hospital and the builder's merchant. Just think, a trip to Wickes is the highlight of the week! Pathetic isn't it. It isn't as if there is any official light at the end of the tunnel , even if it is a guess, but just to be given some hope would be nice. Yes, I'm working on a couple of boats, but apart from not always feel well enough to do anything, even that isn't doing it for me. This forum is the only social life I have now, so, thank goodness it exists and is so helpful. Hopefully, I'll get the jab soon, then perhaps I won't feel quite so vulnerable.

Our Government in SA have now declared that they will only achieve a 60% vaccination rate by the end of 2021!l
Th Private Medical aids are prepared to finance additional vaccines but the Government want to control all the vaccine. So, the medical aid schemes won't go forward due to the amount of corruption within the ANC!

We don't know in SA when we are going to get the vaccine. A government with empty promises although 1.5 million vaccinations are supposed to arrive in January/February this covers healthcare workers only and the one being imported has not yet been approved by the SA Medical boards! Our Government are still fighting about price!

Couldn't agree with you more! We have a certain population group in SA that don't believe in masks, hand sanitisers and social distancing. We have had teenagers at superspreader events as schools closed in December for there annual holiday our infection rate is over 2000 per day. So back into semi lockdown. No Booze available! As the population group I am talking about can't drink sensibly! Although masks are uncomfortable to wear to me it's a done deal.

Early on in the epidemic there wasn’t a mask mandate, but social distancing (I really hate that term, btw), was being enforced in most public places. The grocery store I go to limited the amount of people in at one time, and had 6 foot markers on the floors. I really think that went a long way to slow the spread of Covid...however...there’s no shortage of idiocy over here either. I was in said store, before the mask mandate. I didn’t have a mask on, but I kept my distance from people, 6 feet or more. I was in line at the deli when a gentleman, wearing a mask, leaned in to grab an item and got maybe a foot in front of my face. He excused himself, but if my eyes were Bofors guns he’d be done. Jesus it’s easy!! Keep your distance, wear a mask when needs be, get the ##$$!!! shot!!
Look. I am conservative. I voted for Trump, I’m Baptist, a Christian, only thing I don’t have is a firearm in the house or I’d hit the Trifecta that some people on the left rail about. My best friend on the planet is liberal, looks like an old hippy, drives a Prius and plays the hammer dulcimer. He and I agree on more than we disagree with, and we both have come to the conclusion that the lack of common sense prevailing on the planet is shocking. What galls me is how both sides blame the other for the pandemic, and the stupid, ignorant bull**** that gets spouted such as microchips in the vaccine, etc “I’m not getting the shot because the left/right wants me too”!!! Hi Nerys, I agree the general concerns you raise but it is worth pointing out that the Oxford University vaccine, produced by AstraZenica, is sold at cost price (£3 a shot) vs the Biontec one at £15 a shot. This was part of the 'deal' struck by OU when looking for production partners and we should be thankful in UK we have such a principled group helping us to get over the virus. I just hope they will sell future vaccines at this price to overseas customers.
