Hi Nerys, so pleased you feel a little better today.
Ask if you can save the phosphate excess, you could make your very own blasting powder.
I'm sure you will feel much better when you can just get in the bus and go wherever you want with Alice.
We are having to care for our 2 grandchildren tomorrow till Saturday as their mum has to go into hospital to get a pin put in her broken wrist.
I will really enjoy having them stay, I can play silly games and try to enjoy life a little. But I expect I'll be kippered on Sunday.
Keep smiling and best wishes to you both, Colin and Caroline.
Fair winds and calm waters,
COLIN.

Better news Nerys stay strong we are thinking of you.O! The Golden years. We worked years and saved to get to retire. It's like a house you build every thing is brand new. As years go by the pluming gets plunged up the floors start to creek the electrical isn't up today's standards. The good news is we've been around all these years to watch the house get older.I know reading the posts makes me smile that so many of us are in the same (BOAT) waking up each day hurting in a new spot a little slower than yesterday. Looking in the mirror wondering who this person is. I think about what I will do today knowing full well it will be up to what my body will let me do.GETTING OLD IS NOT FOR FAINT OF HEART.

Hi Ian - glad to see you are feeling chipper - usually low potassium caused by diuretics - ask me how I know.............

We are but spring chickens compared to Nerys - who seems to feel a little better from her last post but still a bit Woozy - lets hope she feels better soon.

Believe Bette Davis coined the phrase - old age aint for sissies - think most of us here on this site know what she meant - told the Doc on my last visit - think there's a bug that moves around causing pain in one place for a week or so then moves elsewhere causing pain there for a week and so on.........
As she's a relative youngster she just laughed.......

Found Bette Davis's most famous quotes...........

Old age is no place for sissies.
Getting old is not for sissies.

Thank you, everyone for your good wishes and expressions of sympathy. I had dialysis last night, also a blood test and an iron injection. Nurse thinks I may have a surfeit of phosphates. I can't say that I am alright now, but do feel a bit better than I did yesterday. I am still terribly weak and get out of breath at the slightest excuse. Obviously last night's dialysis helped but I am wondering how I will be feeling by the time my next session is due, Saturday.
Thank you for everything, it's great to know that so many people are kind enough to wish me well.

Best wishes, Nerys

Was saddened to read that Nerys 🤔
So I'm rigging up a Log-P antenna (ask Alice, she will know what that is and what it does 😉) to beam over Good, Healthy Vibes to you, using all available RC transmitters 😎
I'd ask them Docs some serious questions about why their last treatment had such an effect 😠
Looking forward to better news after today's treatment 👍🤞
Very best wishes, Doug

Nerys,
From across the pond, in an ice storm, here is hoping that your treatment will set things right. Folks down the way from me( Newfoundland) say that Screech("local" rum), is able to substitute for anything. Not sure about that, but then, I don't remember the actual event. Here is hoping for your feeling better very soon.

Sorry to have to say, but I have been unable to even look at my barge for the last few days. I had dialysis on Saturday evening and since then have felt really, really ill· Just don't know what it is, but it's as bad as I've ever felt. I've had virtually no sleep since Sarurday either which isn't helping, about an hour yesterday, that's all.Only hope dialysis tonight will have the reverse effect on me.

Better get well soon Ian - not many of us model boaters left out here. Take it you are somewhere like Mediclinic and being taken proper care of. You are in our prayers.

The local Govt hospital turned away someone as they had no medical aid - nor beds available for "free" patients - (elderly patients are turned away on triage too) - a friend has purchased an oxygen generator for him to have a chance of recovering at home . It is capable of supporting two patients at a time which will be a great help if his wife also falls ill - the machine is intended for anyone here with the same problem and will be used for that purpose after he has recovered. Thank goodness for the generosity of some people - they have already lent us a generator & ups for my O2 generator to cope with the load shedding we experience quite frequently.

Unfortunately the majority population here don't seem to care much about wearing masks etc so you are always at risk when you go out. Especially dangerous for the at risk group like Ian . Have the same medical problem and getting on a bit - so better half tends to restrict my movements as much as she can.

Alice is trying to show some real progress on the sausage roll wagon at the moment, but I'm sure she'll get round to doing the soldering for me in the very near future, even if she would just make up the mast assembly for the moment as I know the rails will take ages and I would rather she used the time on the camper. Her soldering station is all set up and ready to go.
Your Welsh was as good as I would be able to manage, so don't worry about that. I'll give you the chance to criticise my German one of these days.

Yes, I've seen those magnets Bill. There used to be a shop in, I think , Royal Arcade in Cardiff that printed Tee shirts etc. They used to do a tee shirt saying the same. They also did some tee shirts and other souvenirs that were, putting it politely, quite rude about England.

Great to see a bit of good natured banter going on Re the rugby, after a great start for us (and also after a long long 28 year wait 😊) we finally got a win at Twickenham against a very strong side, up next, on Saturday, is Nerys's team Wales who also had a great result against Ireland, 2 sore ones for the bookies 😊, if we lose - be gentle Nerys 😊
Just on who Nerys supports, I picked up this fridge magnet in Cardiff some years ago and I just had to buy it.

Sorry Doug, I support England in many ways, but living in an enclave of Welsh supporters, I wouldn't dare say a word against Wales, don't forget, it was Ireland we beat yesterday and I would have thought they were the main opposition to England to take the championship. So, we have probably done you a favour. I must say though, I cannot turn on the land of my fathers, I support Wales.
On a different note, you were born in a county, Kent, very much to my heart. Kent was my home for many years and I have the fondest memories. Despite the land of my birth. I regard Kent as my real home and the waters of the Medway and Swale, my true homewaters.

Cheers, Nerys

My dear TD,
You are aware I trust that in Football the emphasis is on 'Foot' and that handling the ball, i.e. catching, throwing, deflecting or otherwise influencing the flight of a ball in play, with the appendage at the end of a player's arm, or any part of the arm to the shoulder constitutes a breach of the rules and will result in a penalty kick being awarded to the opposing team.
I believe however that on your side of the pond you play a, shall we say interesting🙄, version of 'football' which appears to be a watered down amalgamation of Rugger and Australian Rules Football. Although it looks like the guy who marks out the field was full of Jack Daniels, seems to have enjoyed his job though - so many lines😮
Of course on our side of the pond, and Down Under, NZ and in SA we play those games without the benefit of kevlar plating, crash helmets and dog muzzles or looking like something out of Transformers!😁 Oh, and aren't those grandpa underpants that they wear (on the outside🙄) a bit warm for what I remember as the hot and humid climate of Tampa?
Not to worry, I guess the popcorn, root beer and fireworks makes it all worth while - plus the odd Janet Jackson incident🙈
I well remember my first contact with the Playoffs. My first visit to the US of A back in '86, to check out a potential partner company and
talk to some key customers.
I put a few bucks into the company Playoff sweepstake, without the slightest clue about any of the teams or their standing, and won the $500 pot😊 The faces of the other participants and the mutterings of 'How'd he do dat?' I will never forget. I asked 'em to donate the 500 to charity.
BTW: I never realised before that the loser of the playoffs was doomed to go to sea with harpoons and chase whales.😠
I do hope that this barbaric practice has since been abandoned!
Just pulling your anchor chain CPO, don't take it to heart😉 Enjoy the show👍
Cheers, Doug 😎
PS I've often wondered how it came to be called the The WORLD Series when only American NFL teams participate!?
There IS of course a Football WORLD Cup competition, involving up to 128 countries I think.
Does America take part in that at all?
