Thank you all for your help and good wishes for Alice. I've been on line and seen that they do not mention the type of reaction that Alice is having, only things where treatment is required for respiratory and allergic reactions but as I need her help so much I suppose I worry too unnecessarily

cheers, Nerys

Hi Nerys,

Both my wife and I felt quite ill for 48 hours after the jab, but then it stopped almost as quick as it started, and we have been fine since. Hope Alice feels better soon.

Stay safe, Graham93

Good evening Nerys, sorry to hear of Alice's reaction to the vaccination, Caroline's friend over the road had the same issue with her jab it lasted for 4 days. So hopefully Alice will be back to normal soon, I hope so for both of you.
Stay safe sweet ladies, cheers Colin and Caroline.

Alice had her jab on Tuesday afternoon, and twenty eight hours on is still feeling really ill. Last night, it was a dreadful headache, today, all day, very tired and feeling dreadful. Says she never remembers feeling so ill. Just hope it doesn't carry on long, because, apart from hating seeing her ill, I'm none too good myself and depend on her so much for literally everything. That's being selfish, but unfortunately true, and as you've probably gathered, she means the world to me.

Judging by the way the SA Government is running at present we won't have herd immunity till 2025 due to lack of vaccine and the amount of vaccine sites. The Government is the only source for vaccines

My wife and I got our 1st Moderna vaccine shots (jabs) last Wednesday. No severe side effects for either of us just soreness at the injection sites. Having some issues with my right hand but I think it's a pinched nerve. Will see my chiropractor early this coming week and see if it helps (usually does). Stay strong and keep after your doctor to get the vaccines.

It seems to me that we are all suffering from high blood pressure, it it the model boat building? I had a double bypass in 2000 and was put on BP medication, an ACE inhibitor, and have been on the same prescription from that day to this, 20mg. my BP is stable at the same rate as it was in 2000. I have a slow heart rate around 60bpm. I did try beta blockers but only stuck them for about 10 days, my motivation just went underground, just a cough with ACE tablets. ( Gets me a seat to myself on the bus!) Get well soon Nerys Geoff

Yes, I had much the same with high blood pressure tablets a few years ago I was put on five , refused to take the beta blockers, I'd seen what they did to a friend, normal person to gibbering wreck in a few weeks. Doc was most annoyed/ Then I was down to four, decided that was too many. Gave up the rest when I started feeling faint occasionally, checked my BP and realised it was too low. Never told the doc, just stopped getting them.

"So, I've been experimenting and given it a miss on a couple of days. And what has happened, I've felt fine."
Tell me about it Nerys!
When I was first diagnosed with a high blood pressure problem back in 2008 I was prescribed 5 kinds of tablets! 🙄 Including Beta Blockers.
I fairly quickly determined that the Beta Blockers were causing a personality change, I wasn't my usual jovial self, far from it, and it started causing friction at work.
So I told my 'house doc' I'm not taking those any more. She phoned the heart specialist she had sent me to and he answered "OK. Kann er machen." OK, he can do that!
After that I only took 4 kinds of tablets 😐
Four years ago I changed 'house Doc'; first thing she said was 'You don't need tablet X'.
So I was down to 3 tablets 😀 And my BP has remained stable.
This year I decided to stop taking the diuretic tablets, cos they make me get up and P in the middle of the night 😠 Result; no change in my BP and I sleep much better 😀
So now down to 2 tablets am and pm and no BP problems.
Soooo, Rock on Nerys, and don't let the 'quacks' grind you down!
Cysga'n dda! 💤💤💤

Doug, Not a lot of reaction from the quacking department I'm afraid. I told him that the new stuff made me literally sick and I wasn't going to take it, so he said he'd ring me at home to discuss it. He then went on annual leave, or so I have been told. Anyway, as I generally start off feeling well each day but as soon as I take my nine daily tablets, I feel ill and that often carries on for the rest of the day. So, I've been experimenting and given it a miss on a couple of days. And what has happened, I've felt fine. I saw one of the doctors tonight, never seen her before. Told her all about it and she said to carry on and she would ask another pharmacist to ring me on Monday.. We'll see what we see!.

During the course of the time I have been on Dialysis, two and a half years, up until a month ago, I had put on nearly twelve kilos, but in the last month, with no change of eating habits, I've lost about 3 kgs. Don't say it must be more exercise because I can barely walk. Finding things to wear has become difficult, especially with non essential shops closed.

Hi Tora Dog,
Penalty for not wearing a mask in SA is ZAR 1500-00 plus a criminal record, But the greater ethnic group seem to ignore all Covid Rules!

I am now out of hospital after 4 weeks of which 10 days in ICU Not a laughing matter as I am now on oxygen at home trying to get over it!

"Ho hum, back in level 3 again tomorrow for a week, due to some moron going to work and other places when they were supposed to be in quarantine! These people should be put in a special isolation jail (not a fancy hotel) and left there for 6 months. Our feel good 'kind' PM asking everyone not to judge this family, you have to be kidding 'bucky', - these people are the ones dragging it out, making businesses close, loosing people their jobs etc. They seriously need teaching a lesson, big time!!!"

Over here the penalty for not wearing a mask(airlines are finally waking up)is a slap on the wrist. I have always wondered though, if an individual chooses not to wear a mask in public and infects someone who then dies. Isn't that manslaughter? Why isn't treated as such?
The saying is that the study of history helps to prevent making the same mistakes again., but it doesn't work if one does not study history or simply ignores it. An politicians out there reading this?🙄

I do feel for you Ian, I dread being admitted to hospital, I can't really comment on the food. In my present state I get a plastic cup of tea and a sandwich on each visit. No comment on the sandwich except to say that Alice makes me one to take in rather than eat theirs.. Most of all, I hate the beds, air beds, I can't hootch myself around in them, and after four hours of not being able to move around, turn over or doing anything else. I go mad. Luckily for dialysis I use a chair which in itself was never meant to be sat in, it's designer knew nothing of ergonomics but it is a few degrees better than the beds.
