What a difference a coat of paint makes ,brings it all together. When I was an apprentice in the shipyards the saying used to go "putty and paint make a job what it ain't",looking really good Ron have a great Christmas, hope Santa's Good to you.

Really taking shape now Ron - looking good . Knew I had seen a similar superstructure somewhere - found this in a 2000 copy of Marine Modeller discovered whilst sorting out the garage....... Looks a bit longer and its round bilge not multi chine though but looks a lot like Ms Kat - no funnel though & different shape windows.......

I am adding strips along the edge of the deck to attach the bulwarks. Thanks Donnieboy, you always come through with suggestions.

Oh my...basswood was used on the deck plates. Sub deck is balsa. The Gunwale will require some helping hands from Don.

Come along way since September. Been working on the wheelhouse windows. Talked to the owner, he said the original plan was to add doors that would slide aft. So, I added them to the model.

Thanks for the other pics Ron - hull really pretty close to Tid type with US type superstructure - would make a good looking model.
Pity there is not someone there like my manic friend who collects small warships /ASRL's the way we collect models.
Would be good to see her restored

Doug,
Perhaps after paying out for all of the woodwork they ran out of cash!

Hi Ron,a breakers yard is where old ships /boats go to be dismantled, anything useful is sold off and the rest sold as scrap for recycling.

Breakers yard? I would not even know what that is. I think it is a storage yard. That had the Hurricane, Dorian, go through that area a few weeks ago which may be why many of these boats were taken out of the water. So far as the old tug, it has been on try land for a number of years. It use to be under cover, but now it is exposed to the elements as seen in my photos.

I just love small tugs ,what a brilliant restoration job for someone in the yard ,would make a brilliant apprentice project .thats what we did when we started our time the yard had an old tug which was shored and the apprentices put theory into practice you also got to do other trades ,I was a metalworker but got to do some shipwright work ,laying a piece of wooden deck ,caulking and tarring.Oh fond memories.
Sorry for deviating 👍

Lovely old Tug, sort of like what the Americans call a yard tug , used by shipbuilders to move boats/ships around. Very similar in design.
Like the double chine - almost like a Tid with different superstructure.
Did you take any pictures of the stern showing rudder & prop Ron ?

Hi Ron.
That is a really nice Tug, I like it a lot.
It would make a very nice model.
It certainly has character.

I asked an employee if he would climb aboard and take some pictures of the old tug here in the boat yard. The vessel was built in 1959 for the Department of Public Works and sailed under the name of "Enmore"; it also had a designation known as "T.A.2" of which I can find nothing on Google search.

The model is now built and works fine since beginning this project 2 years ago. October 2021
