Keeping within 3 mile coast line, noted small craft,
sighted approx 2 miles west of Morecambe Bay, no navigation lights, mast only light, 3 crew, no english spoken,was made aware from one of our crew, they were Bulgarian, trying to do some offshore illegal fishing.
Took boat in tow, and contacted nearest Immigration control craft - 16:20hrs, where they were handed over, and craft taken back to port for collection of HMCS..... end of report.

Mid patrol report. Intercepted small yacht, 8 miles NW Croyde Bay. 5 elderly gentlemen informed me that they were members of organisation called 'Refugees from Brexit' and were escaping to Ireland. All appeared well, so wished them good luck and told them that I would speak to Irish Fisheries Protection Vessel to look out for them and escort them into port.
Patrol continues, quiet night. Only other sighting has been a car transporter bound to Avonmouth.
Returning to base shortly ETA 0600.

I only started wearing glasses at 48, typical effect of years of electronic engineering with ever smaller components. Dad (Electronics officer in the RAF) just said "Yep, you're right on schedule"! So no 'quick fix' available 😭
Last straw came while spending 4 weeks in Rio making endless changes to the system drawings for a COMMS refit for the Brazilian Niteroi class frigates (Based on the Vosper Mk10).
Had to do all the drawings on a titchy Toshiba laptop, ca 10" screen.
After a couple of weeks started getting headaches and I had to go out and buy some reading glasses. Coupla years later came the varifocals🤔

Regarding opticians, wore glasses for 60 years, then couple of years ago, had cataracts done privately, NHS said I didn't need them, 'what do they know',

In my opinion, prudence is called for and there is little point in a routine patrol under such conditions. Will institute a full training programme during the day instead.

Lt Cmdr Marky reporting back for duty after manoeuvres up north. Due to unseasonably good weather it was decided to go round the coast rather than the maritime museum ,After a delay whist certain crew members did their hair and make up we headed to Cullen for lunch where all participated in the local delicacy of Cullen skink from there headed along the coast to Portsoy for a walk round the old harbour,next was Banff then across the river to Macduff here we went to the derelict art deco Tarlair open air pool (I think one of the members of this site sails here)I tried to post pictures using the mobile app but these haven't come through ,I will send them to my laptop and try posting later.
Disappointing to say Fleet ,Sunday was spent on a distillery tour or two- Glen Garioch and Ardmore samples were had by the rest of the crew.

I last visited the SS Great Britain in Bristol Docks quite soon after she came back from the Falklands, but now, what a wonderful and well patronised exhibit she has become. I thought one of the most interesting features was the way a large section of the bow has been left so that the actual state of the hull, rust holes and all can be seen. But, I do have a query. The white ensign was fluttering from her stern ensign post. Why? I always thought that the only vessels entitled to wear the white ensign were units of the Royal Navy and yachts owned by members of the Royal Yacht Squadron.

It is with much sadness I have to report the loss of the Texas Navy flagship, San Jacinto. As you all know, she was in bad shape, due to be decommissioned by the end of the year. However, last night on patrol with LTJg Errol Cat, we were attacked by a fast gunboat of the Oklahoma Rabbit Reserve. Things started off well enough, we were in interstate waters on Lake Texoma when we came across a civilian cabin cruiser that was having issues. We hailed them, but as we came closer we noticed 2 3 pounder guns haphazardly mounted on the forward deck...we immediately went to general quarters, and started evasive action, when the cruiser opened fire. We returned fire with the fwd battery, blowing one of the cruisers guns off its mount and damaging the rudder, but unfortunately the rabbits aim was true. We were holed below the waterline, and we took a hit in the boiler which let go, breaking the San Jacintos back. All crew were able to abandon ship, we were picked up by brave members of the Texas Highway Patrol who saw the commotion, requisitioned a civilian pontoon boat and came to our rescue. We sadly watched as the San Jacinto turned turtle, and disappeared beneath the surface of Lake Texoma. We sang a few lines of “The Yellow Rose of Texas” as she sank. Further patrols will be on shore for the moment, until we get a tug or launch ready for temporary duty. However, all is not lost! I visited the Inland Mckinney Shipyards and Studebaker storage, and it looks as if we already have a replacement for the San Jacinto. The new vessel should be ready before end of fall, with any luck. Since the Shipyards are classified, it was very hard to get this info to you much less a picture, since the rabbits have spies everywhere, but I showed the yard master my credentials and a fifth of Scotch and I was allowed some info and one picture for Fleet and Night Watch dissemination only.
Fleet, the actions above were my fault, and mine alone. All crew, feline and human, acted in exemplary fashion. If there is any disciplinary action due, it should be with me.

Yes, you are quite correct Doug, it is Dallmayr, and the blend is PRODOMO. We have friends who live about 40km north of Munich, some years ago, we took them on a trip to Austria, and everytime we stopped for lunch/dinner, they always drank tee,
when asked, they said they only drink Dallmayr coffee, and we love it, our DELONGHI Magnifica S, makes a fine cup, as my wife does not like strong coffee, I just make a double for myself. We also like
Lavazzo, which we use in our Nespresso.😋

I use Lavazzo Espresso Cremoso, Medium Roast #8. Only have to set my machine to half the 'beans' per grind compared with Dallmayr😮😁 Also got Dallmayr chucked out of the office and replaced with Lavazzo.
BTW: Passau is an interesting town, full of history and on the confluence of two rivers, (incidentally I've travelled a few times on an ex US Army pontoon bridge inflatable down the Danube through Passau to Austria, great fun😊) but Passau is a long way from the Bodensee!

Bodensee Doug, that reminds me of a friend we had staying with us from Passau, a rep for a lace making company (sehr teuer), we use Dalmyr Prodo coffee, as I got a taste for in whilst in Munich.
At breakfast, my friend used to say about his coffee,
it is bodensee! informing me that he could see the bottom of the cup, ie Bodensee is clear,... cheek!☹️
