Hi mate yes i believe you need to remove one of the power leads to the receiver you only need one 5v power supply.
check out youtube ive sean a video on subject

Hi all I’ve been running too 600 Johnson motors off one 50 amp speed controller and a 12 volt battery but the boat struggling so I thinking of running it off too esc too battery I’ve got a y lead but I do remember reading somewhere you have cut one of the coloured leads?
