getting old

Hi there Nerys,
I find it easy just add the digits of your age together and behave accordingly, so at my next birthday I want jelly and trifle and 8 candles, that way I can enjoy it with my grandchildren. Then ask them to help me.
Cheers Colin.

Dear All.
Getting old!
Would I like to be 18 again? Not sure 🤔,but only if I had the wealth of knowledge I have now.
Yes, getting old is, why have I come down to the model boat shed, walking back up the garden to the house and remembering why, so walking back again without the shed keys.
Have a good weekend all.

Hi Nerys,
Remember Age is just a number, Start thinking you are eighteen and you will be surprised what you can do.
And it is always good to ask for help.

Doug, At least you are still making models and planning projects even if you can't remember what they are. Really the fact that any of us in our dotage and I suspect my dotage is one of the highest on this forum, are still able to make reasonable models and discuss the finer points is a bonus. My main beef is that I have lost a lot of my strength and dexterity and have to ask for help on occasions.

Nerys, feeling her age after recent birthday.

getting old

So here we are three years on from my last post on 'getting old'!😮
Just took delivery of a vast amount of 3 and 6mm balsa planks and 3 and 6mm spruce square sections. So far so good!😊
Trouble is;
I CAN'T FOR THE LIFE OF ME REMEMBER WHAT THE HELL I WANTED IT ALL FOR!!🤔
Oh well, I guess it'll come in handy for something or other sometime😉
Have a similar large stash of plasti-card from 0.5 to 3mm but I reckon most of that will get used to build HMS Tyne to the plans Zdenek (Inkoust) sent me a couple of years ago.
Hence following his blog on this with great interest.👍
Now all I have to do is find a hull for it!

All the best Guys and Gals, Happy stashing and building.
Cheers, Doug 😎

In my case getting old means

Taking the top of off the superglue then spending the next hour looking for it.

And then cutting a piece of material for a specific part of the model
Then two minutes later picking up the same part and cutting it smaller for another part of the model.

But you know the best indication is when a two second task takes 2 hours as you seem to have lost the parts you started with and then find some of them and again lost the bits you found the very first time.

Alan, I don't think you need to be old to do that. At least 3 others here seem to done that, as have I. Personally, I hate getting old, but there ya go, we can't do anything about it. So long as you didn't drink the sealant, you'll be fine. We all learn with age, and experience, so stuff must get better (even if we don't 😁). Cheers, Dave. 😎

I agree with boaty. My models have improved and I am more persistent than when I was younger. Hugh

Don't worry about making mistakes when you are getting old.

Think about the very first model you built when you were young.
I bet you made mistakes on that due to inexperience and as you got older your models got better.

Boaty😋

Hi AlanP

You don't need to be Old for that to happen!
I remember a similar situation with a cup of Coffee and a cup of black paint. Guess which one I accidently drank out of. Not a good taste, really awful.😡

Painting a piece of ply with sanding sealer today, I managed to dip my brush into my mug of tea instead of the sanding sealer, TWICE, the only upside is I didn't drink the sanding sealer (that will probably happen next year) 😁
