Why do we still use Knots Go Question for todays Question

🌊 Why “knots” exist at all
Before engines, sailors measured speed using a log line:

A rope with knots tied at regular intervals

A wooden board (the “log”) tossed over the stern

Sailors counted how many knots passed through their hands in a set time

Each knot represented one nautical mile per hour.
The name stuck — and the unit turned out to be extremely practical.
