Re-maiden Voyage. (Successful)

Nick. thanks for that link. Found exactly the props I'm looking for

Trev. She loves RC boats, aircraft and cars. More boats though. She has a Club 500, little jet boat and an inbuilt Aeronaut Mowe.

In terms of our baby "Leo" I've already introduced him to a wind up boat for the bath so has been recruited in the same fashion that I was into the hobby

Oh before I forget does anyone have one of the micro tug boats needing a new home?

And in the bath room now looking for radomes 😅

Hi Scott,
Re "...then look online for radomes"
First have a look in your bathroom😉
You may well find, as I did, that some of the smaller toiletry/cosmetic bottles and dispensers have useable domed caps.
Or of course wait until you are 'au fait' with your new 3D printer, and above all the design software!!
Congrats on the addition to the family 👍
A new potential model boater??😀🚤
Cheers, Doug😎
Young at heart 😉 Slightly older in other places.😊 Cheers Doug

Thank you for all the wishful words. It's been a great day and I'm continuing on with fine adjustment just now including adding a name which is "LEO". Named after my recent miracle baby with my wife (also an RC boater). Feel free to send me boats to ready for water haha it really is part of every day life and wouldn't change it.

Thanks for everything else that she needs now to become more scale like. I will start with flags then look online for radomes etc.

Have literally just pressed "buy" for a 3D printer so in the near future I hope to make any component at home thus removing the post delays.

In regards to railings etc this is a difficult area as I do have some here though I travel via foot and the boat is in a holdall with in built wooden cradle so these types of things end up becoming victims of carrying. I am looking at tiny earth magnets that I can stick to the deck and be able to put railings on once I've arrived.

Next big ish project for her is a water pump to and the water cannons to be working. Will get there

Regards
Scott

Well done that Man!👍 BRAVO ZULU.
Now you'll have to rename her - "Phoenix of the Seas".
That was some rapid refit, Hat Off. Can you come over (Munich) and fix up my fish cutter please?😉

BTW A word to the wise!
As she's now a research ship I suggest you add a couple of SATCOM radomes to the mast and wheelhouse roof. In 30 plus years of working around ships I've never seen a research vessel without them.
They are used for INMARSAT and COSPAS/SOLAS rescue services and are written into the GMDSS (Global Maritime Distress & Safety System) requirements for vessels operating in Sea Area A3, i.e. anywhere in the world including polar seas. HF radio is also required in A3 when above/below the 70th parallels as SAT reception can be iffy near the poles - majority of satellites are in equatorial orbits.
SOLAS = Safety Of Life At Sea. COSPAS is the equivalent Russian satellite network.

On long trips the crew generally also appreciate a SAT TV antenna and using INMARSAT or similar for Internet / Email / SAT-PHONE connections😉

BTW 2. All research vessels I've seen on my travels have been red or orange.
But yellow also looks good, shows up well against sea and ice (and reminds of spring - daffodils and narcissuses😁)
All the best for the postponed OP 🤞 and your next conversions, will be watching with interest.
Cheers, Doug 😎
For the curious-
Sea Area A1 = inshore, within range of VHF radio shore stations on the IMM band - International Maritime Mobile,
A2 = offshore, out of VHF range, worldwide but not beyond the 70th parallels.
Young at heart 😉 Slightly older in other places.😊 Cheers Doug

Well after yesterday's bad luck and some this morning with my steering servo dying she finally was launched and I'm delighted. First 30min was using one motor and she sails and steers perfectly. Second 30min I used both motors and still perfect. Then spent another hour cruising around and trying out some docking practice before heading to the hospital for my appointment that's been cancelled 🙈. So stopped back at the pond again for another play around. I can't fault her at all. Sits perfectly and looks the part.

One thing I'm struggling with is finding M2 threaded brass propellers in the UK if anyone has or knows anywhere that sells them. I'm looking for 4-5 blade if possible

Roll on tomorrow for another outing to the pond 😊
