Veron Pilot Boat

This Is my first attempt at a Building Blog so here goes. The attached Photo's are what attracted me to the model on Ebay, which I thought was a complete kit unstarted, but alas It had been started and all the superstructure parts were missing. So have purchased some Liteply 1/16inch as was used In the kit and will start to produce the a new set of parts.
I hope that the log will be Interesting.

At this moment in time I am awaiting a delivery of 2mm and 3mm plylite (Liteply) and some small brass panel pins. The Kit came with some brass parts water scoop, outlet and a rudder. it was however missing its propshaft with the plan specifies as an 8 inch 4BA ends this shows how old the kit was, so I will probable use an 8 inch with 4mm ends. When I layup the shaft and motor I tend to use a simple mandrill which I fits over the motor shaft and outer of the prop shaft to keep it alined while fiberglassing the shaft in place. The motor is more of a problem I usually run Johnson 600's with or with a gearbox but might venture into the world of Brushless, or try a 700 size not sure yet which way to go. All suggestions are welcome Graham

Some good advice about considering the power set up and layout given above. The original was designed for an IC engine which limited the layout and propshaft. As you are installing a new set up you can align all up together with the rudder. You will also need to consider the diameter of the intended prop plus where you will install the batteries. I'm assuming you will be using NiMh or possibly LiPo as SLA's will be a bit heavy for this size of boat.
A 700 may be a bit on the heavy size for this model. I suggest you test with all the proposed bits loose in the hull in a test tank to see how low she floats.
Good luck with the build, please do keep adding more posts as you progress 😀
