HMS Bustler

HMS Bustler deep sea rescue tug ,built at Henry Robb Shipbuilders Leith where I served my time .
Hull is 6mm ply with 2mm ply deck ,superstructure and bridge were constructed earlier from 18mm mdf .
Ship will be a static model ,one day I will bite the bullet and attempt Rc

Bridge

Built the canopy around the wheel house, it was a little bit fiddley and brought back some math and drawing skills I haven't used for a wee while 👍

Hull

Managed to get a little time to myself and have managed to make a start on the hull ,strips are 20mm and 10mm -1.6mm plywood strips ,there's a few wee gaps but as the old shipyard saying goes "putty and paint makes a job what it ain't"

Just curious, would the material you use work for smaller models? My hulls are usually 10" long and 4" wide. Frames can be a challenge with balsa.

The frames are of 4mm ply ,I use this because I can get lots of scrap off cuts from the place I used to work before I retired, I go in once a month for what my wife calls "my red cross parcel".😂

Progress

Building has come to a temporary halt as my old dad sadly passed away just short of his 90th birthday ,much running about dealing with everything .

Very sorry to hear that Mark, my condolences.
Can well imagine you are very busy right now, my Dad passed on at 88 a few years ago.
Mum is still goin' strong - 94 last March!
Nevertheless my hair stands up whenever I see my sister's number in the phone display ...
    Best wishes,
    Doug
