Fibre glassing

Decided that this heat would make it an ideal day to pop on a mask and gloves and glass in some of the beams and beds! Added a coat to the gunnels and the transom too.
Also fitted the rudder, used some plumbing pipe which I glassed in.
Deck has also been started as well as the forward deck.

Winch

Wound the new warps onto the winch tonight while watching Glastonbury! Used a mix of green poster paint and PVA glue to stain the string. A lot of warps are wire with this green covering. Will add a little rust paint to some area so they look a little worn.

Build coming along well and this certainly looks authentic for a fishing vessel, and the rust will certainly help!

Net drum

Wound the spare trawl onto the drum. Used an old washing bag that you put socks in! The material was soaked in PVA glue and orange poster paint. I have added some rings and sewn some thin thread in green and added some of the warp string too which I have frayed. Sprayed the whole thing in hair spray to hold together!

Ready for paint!

Managed to get the prop shaft glasses in today after adding a brass coupling joint my dad made for me on the metal lathe.
This has allowed me to screw down the gantry and net hauler. I will be putting her in the water tomorrow to get some idea of water line and ballast. Then I will be able to paint the hull.
The deck will and bulk works will also be painted.
Also started work on the v doors for the trawl and some other little bits today. More updates soon!

Aha! Understand 👍 Windows thinks it knows better than we do 😡
Even if it has no idea what we are talking about 😉

In the water!

I have found the new benefit of having a hot tub in the garden!
Pleased to see her finally in the water. Allowing for battery weight, additional deck gear etc I can see how she is sitting.
And I'm pleased to see my fibre glassing is watertight!

Now to get her out and turn the bubbles on for a quick relax!

White becomes blue!

After yesterday's water check I have taken the gantry and wheelhouse off and started the paint job!
Once dried the deck will get a coat of grey..

Nearing the end

Well it's down to the small detail now.
Numbers and name board, another radar and some other bits and bobs for the deck
Oh and the crew!
