Lifeboats etc

Just carved two lifeboats from Balsa and produced Davits.
I think the only reasonable place to mount them is on the top of the sponson side cabins, more later

Davits & Lifeboats positioned

Davits & Lifeboats positioned on top of sponson side cabins, now to try to produce some lifting hawsers.

Lifeboat lifting hawsers

Lifeboat lifting hawsers fitted, not perfect as very fiddly for me - but OK from a reasonable distance!
Now just waiting for the land adjacent to our sailing lake to dry out a bit so that we can commence sea trials!

It still floats!

Frustrated by the lack of access to our lake, I again resorted to my test tank ( bath ).
Now need a bit of adjustment to the paddles and a bit more ballast in the bow area, and of course a suitable name.

Looking good. I think you could do with a little more bubble bath. 😁 🔨

Decided on Name

Paddler now named Lady Langbury, after our children when young combining our surnames to make an Imaginary Langbury Stores owned by a mythical 'Lady Langbury'!
Still to get to our lake to do sea trials but hopefully will be able to post some operational photo's soon.

At last The Sea Trial !!!

A bit blustery today but at least the weather was fine and the access to our lake has dried out. She sailed fairly well but needs a bit more ballasting and is a bit tender in the wind but overall I'm very pleased. I'll try to post a short video later, a bit haphazard as I was controlling her with one hand whilst trying to video with the camera in the other!

Having trouble uploading the video but this is a link:

Looks real nice, (but I am going to the opticians tomorrow) only jesting Chris, you do need a nice calm day for these sort of models, don't you. Nice to get your new model in the water after all the work you put into them, isn't it?
