Beginning the process of refitting. Will be mostly a cleaning/painting project but will make some additional parts add to the ship. Today I cleaned the tail shafts and propellers/ hubs. The props are 2 inch Dumas props. Rather than use the usual drive dogs I machined flats to fit in the rear slot in the props . Looks much better the way this way in my opinion. I manufactured the cone nuts rather than use the out of scale nuts that are supplied with the props when you buy them. I made these shafts and nuts over thirty years ago.she had been in storage for all of that time.

Thirty years ago this was the speed control that I purchased, from Dumas boats. It’s a resister type that uses a lot of power and needs a servo to operate. I will not be using it. She has two twelve volt Dumas motors still in great shape . They just need to be cleaned up a little and oil the bronze bushings.

It brings tears in my eyes when I think about the good old mechanicals speed controllers knowing that I started with a 2 channel variophon with a kinematic system which navigates the model and the speed control.😴🤔
Looking forward to following this one.
Bill.
Without jumping the gun have you got any internal shots of the workings of her please.👍
