Navigation

Worked on setting up the mast and navigation lights all being led with two AA batteries for power. Found a power block made jumpers for separate setup for mast and navigation. Will be able to take all lighting out to finish painting.

Navigation 2

Tidied up the wiring and added black heat shrink to the wires holding them in place but also to hide a little better. The design for the wiring block was a need to get the lighting out to finish painting. When setting to mount the switch my thought was easy on/off when the superstructure was lifted out to turn on the boat to run. As it turns out I can operate the switch through the doors a nice bonus to where the switch is.

Windows

Third try may be a charm Windows seams to be better with my attempt this time. I had tried to soak basswood to try and form the front curved windows. The curve was harder to get with wood I went with 1/8 x1/4 styrene ( pictures of the styrene on the front lower in the blog )and that worked well until trying to put clear material in. Fingers don't work well enough to do this. Striped the styrene off the front used it to make frames to glue on. That part yet to try. Made the radar and put in place .

Thanks all for the good words. Windows are a pain in the asp. In my mind the hardest part of any of my builds. I think the 4 foot rule works for me.

Hatches

Built the two hatches found some small brass hinges and made the handle have them sitting in place need fine tuning and painting. The stack called for a vent made of plastic decided to make from brass tube. Cut and silver soldered the vent cleaned it and drilled the hole into the stack.

Little Jobs

Had purchased 1/2" brass tube to make portholes for the doors. When made they were all right but not looking the same. Back to remaking the portholes. Using the brass tube cut two thin pieces found a thin brass sheet drew circles and cut out. Braised the pieces together and made the hole for the opening. Found the spot light drilled out a hole in it to accept a piece of brass tube to run the LED now wired up on its own switch.

Piant

White on white who'd of guest. Masked off the windows and painted the superstructure. First time I used Vallejo premium 62.001 white acrylic polyurethane paint. Very pleased with the finished look. Oh my windows to go on next keeping my fingers crossed all goes well.LOL

Windows2

For me this update is huge as I was able to get the windows in with only a few small issues. The four foot rule will apply as they are the best I've done still small errors with them that show on close inspection. Very pleased

Clean up

Not sure where a day and time disappears. With the superstructure painted worked to check the fit for the parts made. The inner tray for the interior needed trimming to fit. Glued the kitchen and sitting area onto the tray superstructure fits well with the tray in place. The companion way door needed fine tuning after painting. Changed one of the front windows that I somehow put a finger through. Checking to make sure parts fit well does take time. Time needed but nothing to show for the day.

Painted parts

Placed the tray in spot put the superstructure on the boat. With purchased parts and built parts of different materials and colors have painted the mast and ladder other parts black. Placed all parts on the boat to view how they look in spot. Only a few more items to find to build.

Paint

The lighting done switches in and satisfied with everything. Masked the windows touched up a few areas sanded down the superstructure and painted it again. Seams to be good. Closer look when dry will decide if needs another coat.
