Phase three

Filling in the planks between upper and lower planking is slow as the clamps get in the way need to let each new plank set before starting a new row.
Started the upper level to the transom.

Phase four

Planking is slow to fill in the sides as there is now no clamping area to hold the plank in place.
Now using masking tape to hold the plank in place slow but working.
One spot on upper transom to fill.
Using balsa wood has confirmed that basswood for me is so much better.

    Hi Rick,
I always feel that the hull is the hardest and worst part of this hobby.
So looking at your hull the pain is nearly over.

Looks good Rick. Bit late now, but for anyone wanting to make grab rails from a solid strip, this is a very easy way to do it. Pic shows alloy template clamped in the vice with the strip, then just dremeled out with a small sanding drum. Gets the rails 100% accurate every time. Just mark out the gaps for the rail and make a template to suit. You could use it to trim rails made like yours as well Rick.

Trying to find a South American channel were you Rick?
I was wondering if tube is correct for the TV antenna.
On the plan it looks more flat to me?
    Cheers, Doug 😎

Motor and Rudder

Built the base for the motor to be mounted on also drilled the hole for the rudder tube.
Must give Doug full credits for this he turned me on to this product.
EZE kote for protecting and finishing the hull but also for fiber glassing the hull. GREAT PRODUCT.
The first time I ordered the product it came from the UK as I didn't find it in Canada.
This time I found it at the hobby shop I use ordered Mon arrived today along with fiber glass mesh.
Went down to the work shop set up to fiber glass the hull a short time later glassing done . Very little clean up.

I’ve never used EzEKote for glassing, might have to try that. I’ve used it to seal balsa and apply tissue trim and it works well. I still miss the smell of AeroGloss dope though…😀

Rails

Built the cap rail on a building board using 1/4x1/4 basswood . Having the basswood pieces in water over night used the bulwark form to get the cap started. Drew the shape of the hull on my building board clamping all pieces down. Installed the rub rail and cap rail.

Superstructure

Worked on building the upper structure all went well as the drawings and write up help. Will be building the front up next but need to read and dry fit as there are a few oval pieces to fit . The back cover was in two pieces in the kit decided not to use them as I have .060 styrene cut a one piece cover to fit.

Thanks JB I never know how to take it slow. When I get one area done I want to get onto the next. It's like a snowball going down hill.
