Thanks for links and for some reason the manual is more informative than the one that came with the transmitter.
Also note there's a firmware update available for mine but I'd better learn how to use it before messing around with that 🤣

I just did some digging on this FS-i6S with the help of my friendly hobby shop.
The radio you have is for a quadcopter and no dual rates can be set.
The FlySky/ Turnigy FS-T6 FS-i6 and has dual rates.
Just check with where you bought it whether it can give dual rates if required

Neil, you could just add the tensioner to the right hand stick without touching the springs (very easy) and just swap RX plugs as mentioned. Only thing is, you have to remember that the elevator is now throttle when programming (left stick can stay as it is) Very easy to make a tensioner if you don't want to buy one. (available on Ali Express) sounds like your TX already has one though, but wouldn't hurt to have 2 throttle sticks, - might come in handy for a twin setup. Vid shows how to fit the tensioner.

Hi all thank you for the advice and the videos which have helped my decision massively and that is learn how to use the throttle with my left thumb as suggested by JB
I really appreciate the help but it does look a little ooppss thats broken now.... for me anyway 😁
My transmitter apparently is something not seen before as a i6s so I think best to leave alone at this point.

Just noticed (Ian Hs' video at 8:41 that the tensioner looks to be swappable (looks to have a quadrant on the right stick) There is a way to do this and leave everything as it is, and that is to make a tensioner the same as the other one and screw it to the right hand pot position (there appear to be screw positions matching the other side (may just have 1 screw and a locating pin on the other post) If both springs and rockers are attached on the left side, you may find by removing the tensioner on that side that you have centering, (try it and see, you won't hurt anything) If you have, you might be able to swap the original tensioner straight over (sometimes need to modify them a bit). If all goes well and it swaps over, you can swap your throttle plug on the RX to the elevator channel and your rudder servo to the rudder channel (both in mode 2) then set it to mode 1 and Bob might be your aunty!

Hi Neal, most people have the throttle stick/s on the ratchet or tensioner (the siver steel bow taken out in the vid) as you don't want to be having to hold the stick in position on a long run (a self centering throttle would be a pain (imho) You have a mode 2 TX and the only way you will get the throttle to the right hand stick (mode 1) would be if the right hand gimble has a friction quadrant the same as the left hand throttle and a screw hole for the plate. If it has you may be able to swap the friction plate over to that side and remove the appropriate spring and swap that with the spring rocker back to the other side (otherwise the ex throttle stick will just flop around.)

With many TXs it is very difficult to swap the spring and rocker back (we managed to do this with the HK6 DF TX mode 2 a few years ago, but only by heating the whole gimble case enough to soften it and bend it open to get the rocker pins out) Unless you are willing to risk giving something like that a go and possibly knackering your TX, I'd suggest you leave it as is and become left throttle capable, a bit of practice and you'll be fine. I've converted one of my HK6 DFs to twin throttles and have no problems using my left thumb for the left throttle (I'm right handed)

Pic is an example of a radio with 2 quadrants which are easy to swap the tensioner on, but you still have to operate on the spring and rocker)

The transmitter is made for aircraft, although we use them on boats.
On an aircraft you don't want the throttle to shut.
You can get another spring and arm to correct this.
