I now have the XL boat stand in stock for models upto about 48" The same as the medium just bigger!

Super stand Mike. That would look good on a display shelf. (With a boat on it of course).😊

Boat Stand

Great job, I think it looks better than the adjustable one's on ebay.
I prefer to use this type of stand, but most of mine are wood and quite hefty.
I think I'll try making something similar myself.
Thanks for sharing your excellent stand.
Cheers Colin.

Anybody taken up the challenge? heres my interpretation of the boat stand, I had a surplus of perspex laying around for years without a purpose. it works well and gives access to the sides of the boat

Boat Stand

This is the stand of my 10gbp special from Lidl - sails well - not a bad radio for for 27mhz............
Fairly easy to duplicate in wood if you wanted to - much heavier base would keep it stable........

Glad I didn't turn out then, because when I got up this morning, I did wonder what had happened to last night's forecast. However, I shouldn't have worried, it soon asserted itself, though the rain was nothing like the intensity of yesterday.

Boat Stand

Ken, did you go to the lake this morning? It was late before I was up and the sun was almost shining and there wasn't a lot of wind, so I wondered what it was like at the Knap and what had happened to the forecast I'd heard. However, listening to the news just now, realised how bad it had been in other places in the south.

Hi Ken, Thanks for the sympathy, Seeing the weather forecast for heavy rain and strong gales I didn't think much of our chances of sailing on Saturday so I feel justified in saying that I'm not feeling up to it this week. Alice and I will have to miss next week as well, as we are going to the Warwick show. See you sometime soon.

Cheers, Nerys

Thanks for the good wishes Doug and Marky, I'm afraid this is an ongoing situation I have to put up with.

The seller, presumably designer of the stand has told us that it is designed for smaller power boats, so I think we should bide by his advice. I think I might buy one though, it could come in useful.

If you are worried about it being copied then why put it on a site were members share information, techniques and ideas.?

Get well soon Nerys ,you could build up the adjustable parts of the stand with wooden blocks to accommodate the keel .

Boat Stand

Some of my boats, principally ones I've bought in, ready made, have fixed quite long fin keels. e.g. Dragonforce 65 and Mickey Finn The barge I'm working on at the moment has a detachable keel, so if I chose to scale up the stand, that would work.

Sorry about the tummy bug, my problems have necessitated spending each day this week in hospital, a minor operation and another to come in a week or two. I'm not happy.

Fit telescopic legs Nerys 😎
Scan and scale!
Alternative: make fin keel detachable and provide stowage slots in the stand?

I can see that the stand is to some extent adjustable for height, but is it enough to accommodate a fin keel, after cutting slot.

Boat Stand

Just checked this stand out on Ebay and they say it is suitable for boats up to 28" long, vee or flat bottom. My last two projects were 30" long Thames Barges and the current is 42". The flat bottom fits, but I'm afraid the length is a bit out. Must admit, it looks good for many models and I'd certainly buy one if I was building a suitable boat.

Looks good, but does it go high enough for a sailing boat with fin keel?

Boat Stand

These universal boat stands are now available from HAKits.
They are very practical and easy to construct. Show your model the respect it deserves, many modellers just use a tatty piece of ply and a bit of pipe lagging, tidy up the display of your model.
